so I had my 95 s10 blazer transmission rebuilt and as soon as I got in it to drive it home it vibrates really fast in the steering wheel in any gear when stopped. it does it twice as worse when in reverse. when you get going or rev the motor up it goes away but you can still tell there's a vibration but a tiny bit. when stopped it makes the door panels rattle a bit. as it warms up it gets a little less noticeable. took it back to the shop twice and he unbolted the torque converter then started the engine and said the vibration was still there but less noticeable and says its not in the transmission but in the motor. I took about a 35 mile drive on the highway 55mph at 2000rpm seems too high, and on the way back into town it started to shift into second really hard almost chirping the tires. the next day I went about 5 miles in town and it shifted just fine. I don't know what to do... it seems like I just wasted 1400 bucks... what should I do and look for?

 

start simple, check the mounts motor and tranny.

 

that hard shift issue seems tranny related..valve body stuff.
make note of it on a piece of paper and keep track of when it does it then go into shop with it

 

TAKE IT BACK !!! Call the Better Business Bureau. See what the shop has to say.

 

well I did a full tune up... sure needed new spark plugs... and checked motor mounts and there good. and has a new tranny mount. fuel pressure is good as well. the motor seems to run really well. so im going to have to take it back to the shop and tell him what ive done so far and its got to be in the tranny.

 

Did you replace the flex plate or torque converter?

 

the shop told me the flex plate was good but they did replace the converter with a reman

 

Have you had it back to the shop to have them look at it ? Do you have a check engine light ?

 

yes I took it back twice and he said its not in the tranny. its got to be in the motor. but I doubt that cause it never did that before. and no check engine light.

 

What kind of new tranny mounts do you have? Are they the made of the same material as the motor mounts? I've heard of folks who changed one or the other to poly mounts but left the stock rubber mounts on the other component having to same type of vibration you are talking about.

Then again, if you have nice, new hard rubber tranny mounts and well worn, soft motor mounts, the same might apply.
