whining noise when not moving
I have a whining noise just sitting still and moving. It increases with engine rpm and sounds like it is coming from the drive belt area. Anyone have any ideas or have had this same problem. Thanks

Mine would do that as well. It did it more in the winter (colder months) = more viscous fluid. It was the power steering pump. Mine is still OEM but I definitely heard it coming from the pump. I have never had anything become of it.

Hmm im gonna look into that. I thought it might be coming from the tensioner.

Remove the serpintine belt and start the motor. If the noise is gone then spin by hand any pulley you can to see if they move smooth (you have already turned off the motor at this point). Also wiggle each one to see if they are sloppy. If you have one that is hard to turn or wiggles alot-replace it. It is usually the idler at the tensioner that goes bad. Also don't run the motor long without the belt.
As for the power steering-check the fluid, but that will usually be more of a groaning sound.
