I have a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer LT 4x4....I read on Wikipedia that the 1995's didn't have a Vortec engine?? My engine IS a Vortec 4.3 engine. Maybe I just read it wrong and 1995 did come with the Vortec?

If it clearly says on your engine Vortec, then one must imagine it truly is a Vortec. Blahman20 04-11-2007, 11:44 PM Did they come with a Vortec in 1995? lastcoupe 04-11-2007, 11:57 PM YES, and I think ALL 1995's were vortecs actually. speeddemon560 04-11-2007, 11:59 PM Yes. I typed "1995 blazer vortec engine" into google and found a '95 Blazer with a Vortec in it on Craigslist.com. Then I looked on answers.com and found: 4300 (Vortec) applications: 1985-2005 Chevrolet Astro (http://www.answers.com/topic/chevrolet-astro)/GMC Safari (http://www.answers.com/topic/chevrolet-astro) 1991-1993 GMC Syclone (http://www.answers.com/topic/gmc-syclone)/GMC Typhoon (http://www.answers.com/topic/gmc-typhoon) 1988-1995 Chevrolet Blazer (http://www.answers.com/topic/chevrolet-blazer)/GMC Jimmy (http://www.answers.com/topic/chevrolet-blazer) 2001-2002 Chevrolet Express (http://www.answers.com/topic/chevrolet-van)/GMC Savana (http://www.answers.com/topic/gmc-savana) 1988-2003 Chevrolet S-10 (http://www.answers.com/topic/chevrolet-s-10)/GMC S-15 (http://www.answers.com/topic/chevrolet-s-10) 1994-2001 Oldsmobile Bravada (http://www.answers.com/topic/oldsmobile-bravada) 1985-1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo (http://www.answers.com/topic/chevrolet-monte-carlo) and El Camino (http://www.answers.com/topic/el-camino) 1985-1990 Chevrolet Impala (http://www.answers.com/topic/chevrolet-impala) and Caprice (http://www.answers.com/topic/caprice)Courtesy of http://www.answers.com/topic/gm-vortec-engine Blahman20 04-12-2007, 12:00 AM Cool. I was just wondering :). TonyOneX 04-15-2007, 04:51 AM Our 95 is a Vortec.. only bad thing is that the tranny starts to go at about 100,000 miles:( wreckhaul 04-15-2007, 08:46 PM wikipedia ...its written by "anyone" wreckhaul 04-15-2007, 08:49 PM rebuilding a tranny isnt as hard as they make it sound blznlowxtreme 04-15-2007, 09:12 PM i had a 95 s-10 w/ a vortec. but i have never really knownhow$$ the "vortec" differed from the 4.3 non-vortec TonyOneX 04-16-2007, 05:51 PM well, the trannys the only thing we need to look into getting fixed.. the cars flawless ontop of that.. only a minor scrape on the side because of hail in upstate NY lastcoupe 04-16-2007, 08:05 PM ORIGINAL: blznlowxtreme i had a 95 s-10 w/ a vortec. but i have never really knownhow$$ the "vortec" differed from the 4.3 non-vortec The Vortec is a specific cylinder head basically, It is a design in which the intake runners cause the air fuel mixture to swirl in a sort of vortex, and I believe that's why they named it "Vortec" And I think ALL 4.3's were built with the vortec heads, it just didn't pick up the name until later I could be wrong about that, but I think that's how it went down. Also Vortec is not just a 4.3 design...I have a set of Vortec heads on my Caprice,(350 or 5.7)that came off of a 1999 chevy pickup. Now every gasoline engine that chevy makes except the Saturn based ecotec 2.0,2.2 and 2.4 are Vortecs. BTW Chevy still makes the OHVs Hanr3 04-19-2007, 02:52 AM thaks for the link. Saved me from typing all that again. :D |
