Hey all,
My dad has a friend in DC that said stay away from the drilled brakes because they will warp do to the rapid changes in temp. I was just curious what you all knew about the drilled/slotted disc brakes. I am currently planning on going with slotted discs and new pads and calipers when I get the money, but I wanted to know if it was worth it, or if I should just stay with the stock rotors?
Thanks,
Viper

Slotted rotors have their benefits over stock flat rotors.
On the issue of drilled rotors, well, it all has to do with when the holes are put in the rotor. If they are drilled after casting, then the rotors are inherently weaker than stock and many have a tendancy to crack and come apart. Some have had decent luck with drilled rotors, but the fact that some have had catastrophic failures with them is enough to keep me from using them. And rotors that have cast in holes, which are much stronger, are just WAY too expensive and for our case, aren't even available.

But slotted rotors will be alright? No falling apart, no doing something bad that will cause me to die!?

Slotted rotors will do ya great! Stick 'em with a good pair of pads and you'll be stoppin' on a dime, lad.

As to that, I can't say... For my Z34 and S10, I bought bottom of the line cheap stuff (full set of rotors and pads for the Z34 was less than $100 Canadian, lol)
When the brakes are due on the Blazer, I'll be researching it...

I like Bendix, myself. They last a long time and are built tough.

Well I ordered Power Stop slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads for my front end back on the 8th of June from Cardomain.com, they still have not shipped or charged me. I called in earlier this week and the guy was supposed to call me back the next day with a time of expected departure. not real happy, but its the cheapest I could get all of it for, maybe even cheaper if they discount it for the problems :-)

Drilled also tend to crack.
