View Full Version : lifting the 2000 4x4 motoracer12 08-08-2007, 06:38 PM i was wondering if i could take the keys and rear shackles from the ZR-2 and put them in my stock blazer. i can buy new keys and the shackles from EBAY for 200 shipped. any different ideas would be nice mdemers2006 08-08-2007, 06:50 PM 2dr or 4? Jigg 08-08-2007, 07:14 PM ZR2 keys won't make a difference... I highly suggest staying away from the lift kits on ebay that use different keys. If you're looking to lift your blazer, i'd go with a 2" body lift, shackles and a small (1") t-bar crank. lennyblazer 08-08-2007, 10:01 PM ^^^ Agreed with Jigg, I would do a 2" Body lift and then a 1-1.5" tbar crank and a 1-2" shackles in the rear. The t-bar part = free (no keys needed, IIRC just a 17or 19mm socket wrench and floor jack/stands), and the 1-2" shackles ~$80 plus shipping, and a 2" Performance Accessories Body lift ~$200 plus shipping. and of course an front alignment after the t-bar crank. Should be able to fit 31" maybe 32" tires. RCars2 08-09-2007, 04:27 PM ^^^^Definately can fit 31's with that with more than enough clearance.32's shouldnt be an issue either. With some trimming you can go as high as 33's if ya want. motoracer12 08-09-2007, 08:16 PM what if i took the front lower control arms from a ZR-2 and used the keys from the same truck and also used the rear springs and shackles to get the lift. i have access to all of the tools and parts to do the swap. the part numbers for the rest of the suspension is the same except the lower arms and keys. motoracer12 08-09-2007, 08:18 PM i also should mention that it is a 2dr lennyblazer 08-09-2007, 08:30 PM I know there are differences in the frame and suspension between a regular 2door and a ZR2, however a regular 4dr is the same as a regular 2dr. So I would just go with the comments made above about the way to lift the truck. a_tack 08-09-2007, 11:36 PM Jigg, RCars, if u guys think 32's will fit with a 2" BL, T-bars, and shackles, then consider my 32's as good as purchased..lol ill definitely lift, considering im moving to a house with a garage big enough to put a coal truck in... ill have a place to work lennyblazer 08-10-2007, 12:14 AM Yeah I am at least going to get 31" BFG AT's with a 2" body lift and tbar/shackles lift, more likely I am going to consider 32's maybe 33's. I dont really want to do any trimming though so probably 32's at the largest. Bowhunter 09-30-2007, 11:00 AM out of curiosity...how tough is it to install the 2" body lift and shackles? I just inherited a 2000 s10 blazer 4dr. I don't do any SERIOUS off roading but I do need to take some really rough roads to get back to the elk. I think I'd like to get 32" tires on it. I currently have 235/75r15s Approximately how much total lift would all of that get me? 99 Blazer 4x4 10-01-2007, 08:54 AM Hey Bowhunter, Rob (RCars2) did a couple of posts about that very thing, infact I printed one out the other day because before two long I am going to be puttin' one on myself. I could find the one Rob did there beginning to be alot of threads on this. So I had this in my favorites because I thought it had some really good pictures and the info wasn't half bad and better than most. Here is the first link: It is part 1 of 2 and its got great pictures and it help kinda get an idea of what involved I have lifted a few trucks myself but never a body lift. Part 1 http://www.stylintrucks.com/Articles/0406_Body_Lift_1/Article.aspx Part 2 http://www.stylintrucks.com/Articles/0406_Body_Lift_2/Article.aspx Hope this helps. Again a few of the guys on here have done how to's. I searched for a little bit but don't have time to look at them all so I though this might help. The rest of the footwork I'll leave to you. No as far as difficulty from the way Rob sounds its not that hard. You could potentially do it in a weekend with some floorjacks and the normal basic tools for the most part. Youmight want tocheck just to make sure, I just got up so Iam still a bitfoggy. So from what I've read on here the overall lift you get depends on the tire size and a few other varyables so not real sure on that. Good luck. OH, I almost forgot it is on aChevy Silverado although I don't think there would too many differences in the technique or way its done. RCars2 10-01-2007, 12:56 PM Its a very similiar process to the what the silverado shows there. Actually had i those instructions along with mine at the time of install it might have gone a little smoother. Oh and as for the body lift and shackle discussions ive had in the past Here (http://www.blazerforum.com/m_91528/tm.htm) is my body lift one and i cant find my othere one about shackles......ah well do a search, there are a ton of posts about how to install em. One of these days when im feeling ambitious ill start doing some write ups on items like these and taking pictures and ill send them over to kyle to get them posted in the how to area. In the mean while if ya got any questions PM me and ill help ya where i can. |
