sup I'm a newb here, I got an 85 2dr that I have been working on. But my question is I just bought a 91 4dr to dd. My uncle had it and took excellent care of it. Its extra clean and he never missed any service due on it. However it has 270,000 miles on it. Was just wondering what the average miles you guys have gotten off your 4.3 motors.

Nice custom work you've done on your '85!
I have seen a few 4.3Ls go over 200k miles myself, so I know that it is possible. With proper maintenance, they last and last. I'm only at 75k miles on my '00 Bravada, and expect to have it around well into 100k miles.
Things that you might start having to worry about are wheel/axle bearings, u-joints, and other common wearables that after that many miles may be on their way out.
Good luck, and Welcome!

I have a 1996 4 door and just turned 150,000 miles. The only things I've done to it are regular oil changes, transmission flushes and (2) replacements, fuel system flushes twice, a new waterpump at 110,000 miles, a tune-up at 100,000 miles, (1) alternator and just replaced the fuel pump

I've got a '93 that has 275000 KILOMETERS on it, so whatever that translates to (I think it's about 171000 miles). I have no problems with it, and my mechanic tells me the body will more likely rust off before the engine dies.

My engine has 88k miles, my transmission has 58k, and my odometer reads 252k. It had a brand new crate motor installed in '97 and brand new tranny installed in '98.
Hey timey, where are the car boobs?
Oh, I won't be impressed until the Blazer turns over 300k! My Supra is sitting in the driveway with close to 292k miles on the original engine and transmission! I still say the best cars in the world are Japanese.
A lady came into AutoZone a few weeks ago with a '94 Honda Civic. She was an escort for a mobile home moving company and had 546k miles on her car, I went outside and looked to verify it, lol. She said her dad was a mechanic and she just did regular maintenance on it.

Ya, my dad bought a Duster when I was a kid that he had planned to fix up...it sat on the front lawn for a couple years...even as a kid, I felt embarassed! AND he ended up selling it without even trying to fix it.

I live in half a house at the moment and the kid next door has a summer rat and a winter rat. I say this because they both are sh!tty ass cars. Anyway, when he switched over to his summer car, they were just going to leave the winter car parked out near the front of the house... I actually had to take a drive it back behind the house where it could sit up on an old concrete platform in the back. That way it wouldn't sink in to the ground and become a permanent fixture. Dumb kids. He should have done the same thing with his summer car over the winter... Then I wouldn't have had to pull the damn thing out of the 8" deep indentations it was in after all of the thaw/freeze cycles of the spring.

I had a Astro van with 286,000 miles on it before I totaled it. Engine ran just as strong as the day I bought it, with 60,000 miles on it. Other then some accessories, I never did a thing to the engine. Well besides oil changes. That little 4.3L impressed me so much I bought my '00 S10-Blazer with 27,000 miles on it. 3 years later it has 102,000 miles, only oil changes, and 1 tune up to date.
I liked the S10-Blazer so much I bought 3 more. The '91 became a parts truck and I traded it off for a decent 4.3L engine from a fullsize truck with 80,000 miles on it. I traded it off after we took some stuff off of it. Bumpers front and back, gas tank, sun roof, all the locks, rear view mirror, aftermarket stereo and speakers, wheels, and a few other odds and ends. I got my $300 bucks out of it.
I used most of the stuff on the '87 S10-Blazer which I bought as my sons DD. It has 190,000 miles and a rebuilt engine was dropped in 30,000 miles ago. Tranny needed rebuilt so I got it cheap. We rebuilt the tranny last summer and he drives it every day. Plus we take it wheeling when we can.
About the same time I bought the other two trucks ('87 & '91) a guy at work had his engine die (threw a main bearing) with 196,000 miles on a '93 S10-Blazer 4x4x4. Everything else works and it was his DD. So I gave him $50 for it. I have an engine to drop into it sitting in the garage. Just a matter of time to do the swap. Once that is done, the '93 will become my sons DD and the '87 will become our trail toy. Right now I am back down to 3 S10-Blazers, only one of them is sitting in the yard and it ain't the '93. That one is sitting in the garage with the engine half out. I need a bigger driveway. [8D]
I'd say, if you take care of it. The 4.3L engine will last a really long time. 300,000 miles? Sure.
