Keep in mind that the vortec didn't get good till about 96. Up untill that they were just working there way up. drkmelvin 10-29-2005, 04:57 AM I think it also says VORTEC on the intake chevylane2003 10-30-2005, 01:49 AM I know the vortecs use eight bolts to mount the intake to the head and I think the others use like ten or so. Talusgirl 10-30-2005, 12:09 PM http://www.s10extremist.org/tech_articles/vortec.htm I asked a similiar question awhile ago and this is what 'Hanr3' wrote. He also said 'all 4.3L engines(after 89) in S-series truck have Vortec heads' (hopefully, I remember that pretty exactly). Check out that site for more info. blazin97 10-30-2005, 06:54 PM drkmelvin not all vortec say it on the intake(1st gen do), 2nd gen say it on the heads. Talusgirl 10-30-2005, 06:57 PM My '91 doesn't say anything on it-but I know it is. drkmelvin 10-30-2005, 09:32 PM ooooooh... sorry I was wrong(yes, I can admit)...I'm not a big fan of them, thats why I keep tearing them out and putting in v-8's Hanr3 11-10-2005, 07:30 PM The best way to identify your engine is by the vin code. |
