Can anyone tell me how to determine what engine my blazer has 1989 s-10 4x4...is there a regular 4.3L and a 4.3L Vortec? If so how does one figure out what one has...Hope this makes sense...Thanks In advance

If it is the original motor then early vortec. Keep in mind that the vortec didn't get good till about 96. Up untill that they were just working there way up.

I think it also says VORTEC on the intake

I know the vortecs use eight bolts to mount the intake to the head and I think the others use like ten or so.

drkmelvin not all vortec say it on the intake(1st gen do), 2nd gen say it on the heads.

My '91 doesn't say anything on it-but I know it is.

ooooooh... sorry I was wrong(yes, I can admit)...I'm not a big fan of them, thats why I keep tearing them out and putting in v-8's

The best way to identify your engine is by the vin code.
