Wow, so I am three days home from Iraq. Boy, did I miss my family and the good ol' US of A. Today I am starting my lift project. Read alot of post here at the forums while deployed in Iraq.

Looking for last minute advise, warnings and cautions.

2' Body Lift
2" Suspension lift (rough country)
33x12.5R15's PROCOMP XTERRAIN's
4" Fender Flares

I am mounting the 33's on my stock blazer rims.

Next, I also see that there is welding involved at the top of the front shock mount. Can I just put the bolt in finish the lift and then drive really slow to a local welding shop to drop the bead? Here is the picture of the weld bead that needs to be laid.

welcome back. dont waste your money on the rough country lift just do a 1.5" shackles and torsion bar crank. get same as what your getting in that rough country lift. just get an allignment afterwards. and this way is about $400 cheaper

I don't think he will even need the body lift if he has the 4 in fender Flares and is will to trim before puting them on. I am sure somebody will correct meif I 'm wrong. Post Pics of the before and after. We all like pics. Have fun!!

im doing the rough country only because it will save minor wear and tear on componants up front.....may not make all that much differants accept for the bling-bling factor lol. i really like the tubuler upper control arms.....i already spent the money. it still involves cranking the tbars if i understand the directions correctly. it drops the control armes alittle and comes with new brackets that sit in the shock tower which re-position the shocks out further to handle the new angle of the lift.......i dont want my blazer to hit the smallest crack like a ditch. I know it wont be as comfy a ride as original . ill definately take pics.

sounds goode that will work diffinitly would like to see some pics. is your blazer a two or four door?

where did your find four inch fender flares for the four door, just wondering cause i have a four door.

ill try to find the place again...but they are not custom fit, you have to do a little cutting yourself
they are nicer thern i thought though
ill start the project next weekend
after thanksgiving

Thanks and welcome back.

I would attach the shock until that bracket is welded in place. You can drive the truck without shocks, bounces like a pogo stick, but its doable. Go slow and you shall be fine.

I am seriously considering stuffing 33" under my '00. I am also interested in where your getting your fender flares and how much they cost. Post pics too. WE like pics. :D

Too get 33" under my '87 I trimmed a couple inches off thefront and back of the fender opening and installed a 3" body lift.

Just my opinion; I think I would want to use a little wider then stock rim with 12.5's


General rule of thumb is 4"-4.5". The tire can be a maximum of 4.5" wider then the rim. Your stock rim is 7", that puts your max tire width at 11.5", 12.5 are too wide for your rim. Another thing to do is check with the tire manufacture, they have recommended rim dimensions for every tire they make. Most have that info posted on-line at their website.

well how about this.....should i get new rims...not interested in anything fancy....if so what do you pro's recommend....what size rim and what size back spacing

ok update i am currently searching for a 15x8' rim with the stock 5x4.75 bolt pattern this is what i have found so far.....i dont know the backspacing yet though

i like those wheels. it doesnt say how much backspacing is on them though. 4WD have 6" backspacing and 2WD have 4" backspacing

Even at 11.5" on a 7" rim you will get that donut or balloon look. Do you want 12.5" wide for the "stick out"look or the over all foot print? If for the look, I would suggest going with a little bit narrower tire and a rim with less backspace and this will push your tires out. You might even save some $. I personally like the black steel rim look and am currantly debating on either the American Racing AR-767 or the Cragar CRR3425734. Good luck man!

Check out www.synergyoffroad.com (http://www.synergyoffroad.com) for wheels for your truck. They have wheels for your truck with the correct backspacing. I would def go with a 8" wide wheel.

well i already ordered the ones without the back-spacing before i seen those....worse comes to worse ill sell locally and re-order the ones from synergy with the 4.5 back-spacing....oh well what can you do.......im sure everthing will work out...i did order some wheel spacers 5/16th thick maybe that will lend a helping hand we will see I STILL HAVE NOT EVEN STARTED THE PROJECT YET......saturday ill get it over to a lift bay at the auto craft center on fort drum new york. i will start with the suspension lift. they have ASE certified mechanics there to hand assistance. they already said they would do the little bit of welding involved at no charge.

i may be new to the whole gm thing here but i know for a fact that i have had 35x1250s mounted on7 inch nissan pathfinder wheels for the last 40000 miles without any problems... that is about the max i would go... a bigger problem would be your backspacing on the factory wheels... that is why i would suggest a wider rim with a different backspace
