Had a few beers and an hoir of free time so I decided to redo the carpet on my tailgate panel. I'm going to end up doing it again because the carpet shrunk on me and the edges look horrible. Doesnt look as bad in person as it does in the pictures. And the logo is hard to see with the flash, but you get the idea...

It looks good, don't worry about re-doing it.

Yea I wouldn't mess with it too much, unless it was wicked easy to install..which I would find suprising..[8D]

What about just putting a trim piece around the edge? Or would that look to busy?

You know, thats a good idea. I Think ill just bead some vinyl around the edge. That would cover it up and look nice...Looks like ill have some more pics tomorrow, heheh...

I like it alot!! It adds a nice custom look to the interior. The bowtie adds a nice touch too.

Most of the time I use 1/4" MDF but i was out. So, I improvised and used cardboard. Looks fine but im sure it will have some negative effect over time...

I don't mean to sound stupid, but how do you do that? I would love to try it out.

Pretty simple. Take the panel off, remove the old carpet. Sand downt the remaining fuzz with some 40-80grit. Then you cut your bowtie(or any other shape) out of 1/4" MDF or as I used cardboard due to my shortage of materials. Glue that in place on the panel...Now tape off the entire panel pther than the area to be carpeted. Use some strong spray glue and coat your carpet and the panel. After it cures for about 5-10min lay your carpet down evenly and work it into the cracks very well with a blunt tool such as a closed set of needle nose pliers. Make sure to work it well around the logo as well to ensure visibility. Then with a VERY sharp razor make a cut around the peremiter of the area your carpeting. Lift up the outer carpet and you should have a finished panel...

Thinking about it now I should have snapped some shots and made a DIY...
