I just got a 2003 Blazer and it has the sweet wheels and I don't want them to get stolen. I was at my local auto parts store this afternoon and a saw some wheel locks, but there are so many that I just can't tell which ones would be the right ones for my car. Any one have wheel locks? Price is a premium by the way.

I wouldn't recommend them UNLESS they are PREMIUM locks. No powdered metal sockets and none of the ones that have a face lock. You want ones that have a key'd design on the outside of the cylinder. I have this type on my Bravada even though I really can't stand them, but they came with the vehicle. Mine came with a forged steel socket and the perimeter lock.
One thing to make sure of is that you antiseize the crap out of the wheel studs. This will reduce the wear on the socket. If your socket wears out, then you either have to hope that you can get something to grip to remove it or you have to have someone cut them out, which will probably ruin your rims at the same time.
If you live in an area where rim theft is a problem, then I can understand your interest, but if not, I wouldn't bother with them.

I live about 5 miles from Detroit Michigan, so it really isn't a huge problem, but I really think I should get some. You definately eliminated any future questions I may have had about instalation, but unfortunately that doesn't help me yet. I still need to know which ones fit on the 03 Blazer.

Oh yeah, sorry. I believe they should be 12mmx1.5 Conical Lug Nut w/ Tapered Seat... Atleast that's what Advanced Auto's site says for your 2003 Blazer.
I'm trying to track down some links to some good ones for you.
The ones that are on my Bravada were purchased from the originating dealership and installed before the vehicle was originally delivered (when new).
*EDIT* - Nevermind - Confirmed as 12mmx1.5... GMPD.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com) has a wheel lock kit. Here's the kicker - it's $172!!! LOL

Well thanks a lot for you knowledge, but to be honest with you, i don't see myself spending 172 bills on lock nuts. I really appreciate your advice, but the rims aren't extremely desirable, they're the stock aluminum alloys, but they're in good shape, and i'm sure they're worth some money, and i think the ones you showed would be suitable to my liking, making it more difficult to lift my rims. because a theif can get through anything, all that security devices do is delay them, which they hate, which is all i'm looking for. Again, i really appreciate you getting those numbers. By the way, what exactly is antiseizing? I'm only seventeen, and this is my first car, but i absolutely love it.

Oh I wasn't suggesting purchasing the lock set from GMPD.com. That is just insane. You can pick up a decent set of 4 key'd lugs for around $20. You just need to make sure to get ones that have either an external key or an internal key and not a face key like the ones I linked to above.

Cool, thanks. What is antiseizing?

Damn sorry, forgot to put that in the last post. Antiseize is a paste that you apply to the threads. It is basically a long life lubricant to keep the lug from seizing onto the stud. I apply antiseize to every stud each time I pull off the wheels on any one of my vehicles. Not only does it keep the lugs from seizing on, but it also allows a much more even torque to the lugs.

This would work as well: Gorilla Locks (http://www.gorilla-auto.com/products/?sfID1=259&sfID2=260&productName=ACORN&image=5707.jpg). Just a little bit different design, but I think they look better than the others. And you'd need the 71431N

Yeah. It doesn't matter what style, as long as its 12mm x 1.5. I'm a little excited to get those. I just like putting stuff on it. It's only my second day with it, and i got a K&N air filter for it. That thing is amazing, immediate throttle response improvement. Everybody should have one, no matter what the car, improves gas mileage, and top end horse power too.

Do you know if they sell black ones? I am pretty sure that my Blazer has black lugs, but it is dark and cold out so I am not 100% sure. By the way thanks for all the help, I can tell that you put some time into that.

LOL...but if I only quote part of it, won't I be like the rest of the media out there and make it say what I want it to say?
Don't worry swartl...you've proved your hetero-ness a while ago in this thread (http://www.blazerforum.com/m_7845/mpage_1/key_new/tm.htm#7845)...I'm sure no one believed it anyway!

I'd like to add some info on the lug nuts subject.
I hate them. I just recently quite my part time job, mostly did tires in a service center. Locking lug nuts suck. Half the people lose the key, then they want to bitch becuase it is going to cost money to get the lockers off. The easiest way is to beat a socket on the lug nut and spin it off with an impact gun. I ain't using my sockets, the customer will have to pay for them, 4 of them. Plus any thief with half a brain can do the same thing. So they are out 4 sockets at a couple bucks each. Your out a truck, or 4 wheels and tires. Slowe em down, maybe.
If the socket doesn't work (lack of anti-seize or custemer tried on there own), then its time to drag out the drill. You have to drill the center out, all the way to the rotor. Start with a 1/4" drill bit, then move up to 3/8", and finish with a 1/2" drill bit. Once you get the tire off, you now have to replace the lug nut stud. On some vehicles that means taking the caliper and rotor off. Figure 1 labor hour to drill it out, 3 bits, and new parts. Your looking at over $80 per locking lug nut. DON"T LOSE THAT LUG NUT KEY!!!!!!
Chevy uses a black plastic cap to protect the lug nuts, and the threads. Plus it adds a decorative finish to the truck. Some of those caps spin off, and some of them are part of the lug nut cap. the S10-Series usually has the spin off kind. I have not seen a locking lug nut that provides the outside thrads for the black spin on cap.

I can see your point, but i still want them. My older brother lost his key, so he bought a tool that is for taking stripped nuts off, and put it in his impact wrench, bingo. Any theif can get through any lock, the point of the lock is simply to slow them down. Thats what i want to accomplish. Thanks for the input, and the comment swart.
