View Full Version : NC Blazers
willjones 01-19-2008, 12:44 PM Everyday I see so many Blazers driving around here in eastern NC, and I wonder why some of us don't get together. I know that there are quite a few guys on here from NC, so we should all get together for some sort of meet. Either go offroading or just a meet and greet. Anyone interested?
jimmyboy 01-19-2008, 01:44 PM where in nc are you from?
jimmyboy 01-19-2008, 01:52 PM if you are in to fishin i go to carolina beach during the summer and fish out on the beach.
jimmyboy
willjones 01-19-2008, 02:08 PM I live about 10 min away from carolina beach.
willjones 01-20-2008, 09:24 AM I can't believe that more people aren't interested in meeting up in NC. It doesn't have to be on the coast, because I know that I wouldn't mind going west.
WolfPack 02-05-2008, 08:51 PM Whoaaa just found this! Dunno how this one slipped by, but I'm up for meeting somewhere. Not really into fishin myself, but definitely the offroading!
jimmyboy 02-17-2008, 10:33 AM maybe this summer we can organize a meet some where
jimmyboy
EuroGoldLS 02-17-2008, 10:51 AM Woot. I'm in Princeton.... I'm game for a meet this summer too.The VA, SC, & TN guys should be invited if we do.
WolfPack 02-17-2008, 10:53 AM That would make Raleigh the central area then?:D
Just kidding...I'm down with driving, Charlotte is a normal drive to the west, and I'm down in Wilmington every few weeks!
willjones 02-17-2008, 11:13 AM Alright, lets get this organized and figure out an area first. Then we can figure out when we are going to do this.
EuroGoldLS 02-17-2008, 08:28 PM Heres a few scenarios of wht I think would be cool:
# 1 Garner Raynor Road Rushour Karting Adult Go-karting (best for me and Raleigh guys)
#2 WilmingtonOleander Jungle Rapids Water park Water Slides/Arcade/go-karts/minigolf (best for me and Will)
The only thing is I want to keep it central in case woodsballr and FirehawkNS want to come because they arefrom Greensboro and Charlotte. I'll see if I may can find some othervenues in Raleigh or Fayetteville. I've only been to Fayettenam a handful of times and that was when I was raking over pawn shops trying to find some guitar stuff. Fayetteville has the best pawn shops hands down!
WolfPack 02-18-2008, 01:57 AM Haha..I've only been down to Fayetteville for the Special Ops museum, and an air show back when Pope AFB was still up and running..i'll be sure to check out their pawn shops next time around though ;).
Never heard of that place in Garner, but that is wicked close to me so I'm ok with that, but I'm about as central as we get...so I think you not so central inhabitants should debate!
willjones 02-18-2008, 08:41 AM I am good with raliegh, but thats about as far west as I would like to go. Not to be selfish, but raliegh is about 2 1/2 hours which is just about the limit I want to make for a day trip. As long as my lift is done before I go then thats really all I care about.
EuroGoldLS 02-18-2008, 09:04 AM Theres also Silver Lake water park on Tryon Road. clicky (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&safe=off&ie=UTF8&q=Fun&near=Raleigh,+NC &fb=1&view=text&cd=11&attrid=&latlng=35746924,-78727363,11705250309450216302&ei=A565R9vpL47qqgKw8-D-BA&sig2=Vqh3IG9oU0A_GLd9KgRKoA)
Its not a conventional waterpark, its a shallow lake with a bunch of slides. Theres a BIG 70mph slide.
jimmyboy 02-18-2008, 05:17 PM hey willjones im goina go to oak island and long beach during the week of july 4th
jimmyboy
willjones 02-18-2008, 06:14 PM What are you doing up there? Fishing perhaps?
jimmyboy 02-19-2008, 06:23 PM i will a day or so and then just hang out and chill with the family.
jimmyboy
willjones 02-19-2008, 08:23 PM We might have to do a beach run. Would anyone else be interested in taking all the trucks out on the sand. Maybe make a BBQ out of it?
WolfPack 02-19-2008, 08:52 PM Sounds good to me! It would be a tough trip for the West NC fellas, but who can pass up the beach?!
willjones 02-19-2008, 08:56 PM might have to make it a weekend thing for those guys
WolfPack 02-19-2008, 09:03 PM Uwharrie or Tellico would be alot of fun, but Euro and the non off-roaders might not enjoy it as much as us [8D]
jimmyboy 02-20-2008, 11:06 AM wolfpack are you goina be getting new tires?
jimmyboy
ps whos goina win tonight?
WolfPack 02-20-2008, 11:58 AM Probably ordering them tomorrow or thursday:D
I think I'm going with General Grabber AT2's, but a close second is the Kumho Road Venture KL78.
Can't really decide! And NC STATES GONNA ROCK THE HOUSSEEEEEEEE! Go Pack!
willjones 02-21-2008, 05:52 PM let me know which tires you decide on I am also looking for some a/t tires for DD use.
EuroGoldLS 02-23-2008, 10:57 PM ORIGINAL: WolfPack
Uwharrie or Tellico would be alot of fun, but Euro and the non off-roaders might not enjoy it as much as us [8D]
Who said I was a non-offroader? lol I can handle offroading as long as it doesn't involve large rocks and deep bogs! :D I don't wear Long Trails for nothing! ;). I seriously deer hunt and everything on my Blazer. Its the only 2wd vehicle to evergo to Bawdy Swamp and back besides a golf cart (a cart with mud tires, mind you).
Seriously though, if Uwharrie and Tellicoare twoof our options, I can definately ride with someone if we go offroading.
WolfPack 02-24-2008, 10:58 AM That's what I like to hear!! I just wasn't sure if your Blazer liked the mud or not;).
willjones 02-24-2008, 11:28 AM What a trooper. WolfPack, did you get those tires?
EuroGoldLS 02-24-2008, 11:33 AM She can handle mud and beach sand!
WolfPack 02-24-2008, 11:46 AM Freaking tire places [:@]....no..the toyo's were back ordered for like the next 11340184023198 weeks apparantly, depsite their website showing the tires as 'in-stock'. So I think I'm switching to the General Grabber AT2s..but I have to call their customer service line on Monday...
cherryred4x4 02-24-2008, 12:02 PM Man, if only all the NC guys were around when I had my Blazer too. I'm in Raleigh. That RushHour Karting place is awesome, but its a little pricey. It's the best value to do the 10 race package deals they sell..just a heads up.
EuroGoldLS 02-24-2008, 01:17 PM Sweet... You're back Adam!! You can bring your Canyon :D
willjones 02-24-2008, 02:09 PM The more the merrier.
woodsballr 02-24-2008, 08:20 PM i'm game guys long as yall dont mind me driving my truck. theres a nice looking mid-80's K-5 a fewminutes from here for sale but i dont know when i'll have the money for it. just give me plenty of advance warning so i can put in some extra hours when i get a job. unless yall wanna combine it with senior beach week thats 2large expenditures. course i dont know how much time the old farts are gonna wanna spend on the beach with a bunch of recent high school grads. ;)as far as where i dont know eitehr of those places so i'll let yall make the decision.
by the way i'm gonna check into that K5 cuz i wants it!
EuroGoldLS 02-24-2008, 08:56 PM We don't mind.
What weekend is that?
woodsballr 02-24-2008, 09:02 PM beach week? far as i know its the week after graduation. ours is on June 7 i believe.
99 Blazer 4 door 02-27-2008, 07:18 PM Wht up guys jimmyboy just emailed me this thread. So whats goin on. I was wondering if there were any group things near Washington and most of yall dont sound that far away.
willjones 02-27-2008, 07:43 PM Your aren't far from me thats for sure, only about an hour and a half.
99 Blazer 4 door 02-27-2008, 07:55 PM Yea thats not that bad. Do you know any why to get batter gas mileage mine is 12.5mpg and even thought i have a lift and 31 inch mud grips i still think thats a little low. Even when i had p235x75's i only got about 15.5mpg. What do you get

Wht up guys jimmyboy just emailed me this thread. So whats goin on. I was wondering if there were any group things near Washington and most of yall dont sound that far away.
I go through Washington occasionally on the way to Columbia and Fairfield. We are planning a trip to Columbia to go fishing on the Scuppernongon Memorial day weekend. I'll be pulling the G3 down there, so If you want to, you can stop by the Dalton house if you are up to a 30 minute ride and hang out with us!;);)
willjones 02-27-2008, 08:03 PM I get around 22ish but that was before my lift and tires. I couldn't tell ya what it is with the new set up since I don't have all the parts yet. I will post it with the pics of the install.
99 Blazer 4 door 02-27-2008, 08:04 PM Sounds good. When is Memorial day weekend? Ill have to see when i work and if my bank can withstand the gas price.
99 Blazer 4 door 02-27-2008, 08:13 PM I gotcha what kind of lift are u putting on? I put 2inch add-a-leafs to the rear and i have 2inch tbar keys but i have yet to put them on right now i just have them cranked all the way.
EuroGoldLS 02-27-2008, 08:48 PM I hear you on the gas thing. Its gonna kill mepulling that heavy boatto Columbia.
WolfPack 02-27-2008, 08:58 PM 2nd-ed. Last weekend I was moving furniture and towing a 30 ft, 2000lb flatbed trailer that usually is used to haul Bobcats.. Towing it empty for 100 mi I averaged 11 mpg, and then loaded with couches and armoir-things I dropped down to 9 mpg [:@].
I wish we just had a Tow/Haul button, instead of having to use Drive-3.
Haha good luck with the boat though!
EuroGoldLS 02-27-2008, 09:02 PM I just wish I had 3.42 gears.
WolfPack 02-27-2008, 09:29 PM Oh man you have 3.08s???
jimmyboy 02-28-2008, 06:01 AM wolfpack where ya movin to?
WolfPack 02-28-2008, 08:00 AM Nope not I, Was moving 2 sets of new couches into a good family friend's house (Cary) , then hauled their old 2 sets out, which went into my girlfriend's apartment (NC State area), and the set of couches and 2 chest of drawers from her apartment up to Wake Forest to her roomate's house!
Psychropod 02-28-2008, 10:09 AM Hey - I'm in MD, but my grandmother-in-law lives in Fayetteville. If it weren't for the fact that we're going somewhere else during Mem Day week, I'd be interested.
EuroGoldLS 02-28-2008, 10:55 AM ORIGINAL: WolfPack
Oh man you have 3.08s???
No, I have 3.73s. These engines run more efficient at 2000 rpms rather than 1800. Something about the air/fuel mixture.
swartlkk 02-28-2008, 11:08 AM Actually it is the location on the torque/hp curve, not air fuel ratio!;)
EuroGoldLS 02-28-2008, 11:25 AM Yeah, What Kyle said ^^^ I couldn't remembr what it was.
99 Blazer 4 door 02-28-2008, 02:34 PM I wish i had 3.73's instead of 3.42's im thinkin bout putin 4.11's in but i have to match the front gears to the back so id have to change those 2 and that would run me about 530 without tax and me putin them in. And mine seems to run better at 2000rpms to but at 65 it says at around 1700rpms which i think saves gas.
WolfPack 02-28-2008, 03:50 PM Yea I looked into 4.10s and it was just way too involved for what I do with the Blazer. Not worth it for me anyway. I just can't wait for my 30x10.50s!!!!
willjones 02-28-2008, 04:30 PM Why are you going 10.5? The tires might look like a little ballish, don't cha think?
99 Blazer 4 door 02-28-2008, 07:41 PM Yea i dont have the money for the 4.10's and ive never messed with gears before either. I cant wait till i figure out how to get 33x12.5 to fit under my blazer without using a body lift. I have figured out how to in the back but how to do it in the front without haveing a severly steep angle in my cv axles is just hard.
willjones 02-28-2008, 08:21 PM Why are you so against body lifts?
WolfPack 02-28-2008, 08:26 PM Nope, not ballish at all. 265/70 is stock size for the Nissan Desert Runner pick-ups. They look real good, Nice wide stance, but they don't look too big for the truck:)
check out http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Compare the 235/75s with 265/70s. Not that much difference, but enough to get wide
99 Blazer 4 door 02-29-2008, 01:15 PM Im not really all against body lifts its just that i dont like the gaps it leaves even thought i know i can cover the gaps. Not only that but body lifts dont really get u ground clearence they just let u put bigger tires on and they cant help u ride the trail or mud any better.
WolfPack 02-29-2008, 01:34 PM Body lifts increase your approach and departure angles, so they help quite a bit with trail riding. As for ground clearence, even the 'suspension' lifts for the blazers leave the differentials in the same spot, so those don't really touch ground clearance either. Body lifts are a very effective form of lifting, for not much money.. just spend some time covering the gaps and repainting the frame rails and youre set :D
99 Blazer 4 door 02-29-2008, 01:42 PM Yea not that i think about it it would those angles but a body lift seems like there would be more to it than just the blocks like wires need to be exended and stuff like that but the body lift would get me so i could at least put 32's under it. BTY does anyone know how i would a spare tire swing on the back of my 4 door blazer?
WolfPack 02-29-2008, 01:53 PM Check out RCars2. He mounted a spare tire carrier on the rear of his 4 door. I'm not sure what all was involved, but I imagine he had to remove the quarter panel to build in some support for the weight. I thought aobut it, but the roof was easier than fabbing up a rear carrier[8D]
jimmyboy 02-29-2008, 03:28 PM wolfpack did you say that you have spring break this week?
jimmyboy
99 Blazer 4 door 03-02-2008, 07:29 PM my spring break is the last week in march
blznlowxtreme 03-02-2008, 07:57 PM hey if yall are talking tellico off-roading that is just over the TN line i might be up for going on that, its only about 1 hour from me, but i might leave the blazer at the house
EuroGoldLS 03-03-2008, 10:22 AM I'm not really familiar with where Tellico is... what county? I really don't know if I can go that far west.
RedBlaze 03-03-2008, 03:15 PM Hey I just noticed this post today. I live in Eastern NC in a little town called Atlantic. It is close to Cedar Island if any of you have ever taken the ferry over to Ocracoke. It is in Carteret County. I think it would be fun to get a group together and do some wheelin.
willjones 03-03-2008, 05:39 PM Tellico is kindof a LONG ass way to drive this gas guzzler.

I go to Carteret occasionally. Usually Harkers Island.
I think a beach trip to Topsail or Surf City would be best. That way, I can be about10 minutes away from where I'm staying, Will can be around 5 minutes away from where he's stayingand someone could crash at my place... (if need be:D)
WolfPack 03-04-2008, 12:26 PM A beach trip probably sounds best. I'm always trucking it down to Wilmington, alot of my buddies are at UNCW.
Tellico would be MOST FUN! But it is like 4 hours away from me in Raleigh, much less you coastal guys.
Uwarrie's still in play though ;)
EuroGoldLS 03-04-2008, 12:53 PM If you Raleigh guys want to get together sometime in Raleigh or even Garner, just letme know.
99 Blazer 4 door 03-04-2008, 03:00 PM Yeah imgame if i can go and redblaze u dont live to far from me only about an hour or so away.
willjones 03-04-2008, 05:27 PM I would be down for Raleigh sometime. As soon as my shackles get here from blazin_jason my lift will be ready for some off roading. Something to keep in mind wolfpack ;)
jimmyboy 03-04-2008, 05:51 PM i live on the north side of garner. like i said earlier im also goina be at the beach the week of july 4th.
ive also wanted to go to uwharrie.
jimmyboy
jimmyboy 03-10-2008, 07:48 PM if yall wanted to go to uwharrie i bet the guys from s10extremist.org would come cause they usually have an s10 bash every year out there.

jimmyboy
any nc blazer guys have msn, yahoo messenger?
cherryred4x4 03-15-2008, 10:42 PM I'd be in for a meeting in the Raleigh/Garner area if I'm in town when you guys are meeting.
EuroGoldLS 03-16-2008, 09:28 AM I'm down for the beach sometime this summer, but if some of you guys want to meet in the Garner area on a given weekend, I'm up for that too. I'd love to at least meet and see everyone's ride.
99 Blazer 4 door 03-16-2008, 08:33 PM Yea doesnt sound that bad to me love the beach. Where is the Garner at how far ia that from washington?
jimmyboy 03-17-2008, 06:16 AM mapquest says 1hr and 59 min so basicially 2 hours

MikeB78 03-17-2008, 07:06 PM I know this is an old thread, but I may be interested as well. Especially in the fishing, id love to learn more about salt water fishing! I am in Roanoke VA but I have family in Raleigh, Wendell, and Knightdale. Actually heading into Raleigh this Friday. Let me know if you get something planned and I'll see if I can talk the wife into it. That could be challenging with the third child due in July. but i will try.
EuroGoldLS 03-18-2008, 05:14 PM Sweet... Not really an old thread considering the last post occured 45 minutes before you posted, but anyway... If we could really get a good beach trip up that would be cool.
Waterwheel 03-24-2008, 04:01 PM I live in Wilmington NC
I usually have to go down to Whiteville to do any offroadin tho
WolfPack 03-24-2008, 04:09 PM Are they legal trails down in Whiteville? Or just some muddy spots you know about? I've got no problem making a trip for legal stuff:D
willjones 03-24-2008, 04:49 PM Where in Wilmington do you live? Got any pics of your blaze? I am sure that I have seen you at some point, because I am constantly on thelook out for a nice Blazer. When are you goingdown there next, because I am down for some off roading.
jimmyboy 03-24-2008, 08:31 PM seems like we are gettin more and more people from nc joining. hopefully this summer we can get a meet planned.

willjones 03-24-2008, 09:02 PM I am just waiting for a date and a place.
EuroGoldLS 03-24-2008, 11:16 PM I think I'm going down to Snead Ferry this weekend. Will, just tell me when and where.
willjones 03-27-2008, 07:16 PM What are you doing down there? Where in sneads ferry?
EuroGoldLS 03-28-2008, 01:21 PM Just found out I'm not going [&o]
We have a place on Everett Lane of Wheeler Creek road in Sneads Ferry. We have to go down there and un-winterize the place and then probably go fishing or something, but not this weekend.
EDIT^^^
*Makes sound like jabberjaw* Wait!!! Might be able to go down there tomorrow! We'll be raking leaves and stuff, but I may can get loose tomorrow night or Sunday and go out toward Surf City if you're there, Will. Or if you want, you can slide over to my place.I'll PM you my cell# and the address.
willjones 03-28-2008, 04:43 PM Always nice to meet up and actually talk to someone who likes their truck as much as me. That would be cool I just have to see if I am going to the field (work) or not. I will let you know.
EuroGoldLS 03-28-2008, 05:38 PM Excellent. Tomorrow or Sunday is pretty much fine with me. We may be busy most of the day tomorrow, but if you come saturday night, we'll grab something to eat and watch the carolina game.
willjones 03-28-2008, 06:09 PM What do you guys think about the new sig that trippleblackblazer made me?
jimmyboy 03-28-2008, 06:32 PM it looks good. he does some good work.

EuroGoldLS 03-28-2008, 07:16 PM Pretty cool.

Blazin NC 04-01-2008, 06:11 AM Hey guys, just joined up. I'm in Iraq right now and I have just spent most of my hard earned money on upgrades for my 02 4x4 4dr. I am coming home this summer to NC. It would be great to hook up for a trip if you guys got room. I will be living out north of Charlotte, but I am up for a drive anywhere.
I will get pics of my truck when i get home to post on here.

willjones 05-27-2008, 12:33 PM Soooo, did we all forget about a trip to Uwharrie? I think that we should get something going to go in August. Let me know what you guys think.
jimmyboy 05-27-2008, 04:16 PM actually i sent wolfpack a pm last week about it. i told him how s10extremists do an s10 bash where its mostly s10 and s10 blazers and they camp. (the bash was this past weekend) hopefully ill be down with it.
jimmyboy
WolfPack 05-27-2008, 05:32 PM I don't wanna wait till August:D
I was thinking middle of June mayhaps...maybe end of June?
jimmyboy 05-27-2008, 06:24 PM i dont think i can go in june i need to get the truck fixed (brakes and a cat) and then i have the vaction im using during the week of july 4th.
jimmyboy
WolfPack 05-27-2008, 06:37 PM fair enough. I should probably get some stuff fixed prior to a long wheeling trip anyway:D
willjones 05-27-2008, 06:51 PM I have to do my shackles and tbar before I go. Plus my daughter is due to be born in only a week or so, so I wanted to wait until shes a tad older before I leave her with my wife all day long alone.
Blazin NC 05-27-2008, 07:01 PM Congrats!!! Spend a little time with the baby, the Uwharrie isnt going anywhere.
WolfPack 05-27-2008, 07:02 PM agreed;)
willjones 05-27-2008, 07:38 PM Thanks for understanding fellas. Oh and Blazin NC, are you back from the sand box yet?

nj4x4blaze 09-11-2008, 11:55 AM No it's a mix of everything. Fullsize, lifted, mini, car, DONK... Yes we have 2 Donks in the club. Majority of the club is mini's but alot of guys are getting fullsize trucks and 4x4's as well.
WolfPack 09-11-2008, 12:52 PM And dont most shows for the mini trucks have separate classes for the 4x4s?

Club requirements are suspension modifaction, either lifted or lowered. Vehicle must be clean and not smashed up. But it's more about the person versus the vehicle. You can have a complete show stopper, but if you are douche then you dont get it. But if you are a cool guy and your truck looks good then you're good to go. People that wanna join start off in the prospect stage because we need to see if you are going to be dedicated to the club or just looking for a new shiney sticker for your vehicle. And by dedication I mean, hanging out with club members, helping out when members need help, participating in shows no matter if your truck isn't show quality, going to meets and other club events. The club overall is a family. We have guys from all over and always willing to help another out. The prospect to member stage doesn't take long like other clubs. Some clubs require that you are a prospect for 1 yr before becoming a member. We don't do that. If your truck is up to club standards, within a month or 2 depending on your chapter prez you become a member. Each chapter is different and since NC is the newest I don't think the prospect stage would be long. Joe and Brian already wanna get this rolling. And NC has alot of really nice trucks they shouldn't have an issue getting members. Please note you don't need a million tv's, crazy sound system or crazy paint job to be in. Just has to be clean.
Blazin_1t_up 09-11-2008, 02:46 PM well i dont have a lift yet but i will in the next few weeks....i understand wat ur sayin

I know in our chapter, members that in school are held to different standards because of course school comes first. Not sure how Joe and Brian are going to handle things. I would post up on the NC thread that was made by Willjones on the SK site.
WolfPack 09-22-2008, 12:19 PM oh wow...you guys have it all set up :D I'll do that.

As long you participate and make attempts to go meets or club functions, then you should be fine. Just dont disappear and come back in 3 months thinking all is fine..lol... Make urself known on the site by participating in threads. Just show you really wanna be down in the club. That way people don't say "who is this guy again"? lol
Blazin_1t_up 09-23-2008, 02:29 AM is a Bl considered a susp. Mod... and shackles...
nj4x4blaze 09-23-2008, 06:22 AM Yea that's still is a suspension mod.
