Both of them will put your truck in 4x4 which is used when you need extra traction. 4hi is the one you will use 95% of the time when you need extra traction. 4lo give you more torque to the tires. This you can use when going up a steep hill with heavy snow or in thick muddy areas. You can shift from 4hi at any speed says the manual but would recommend not at high speeds. When you want 4lo you must be stopped or going no more than 3 mph and the same for taking it out.

Yep. I'd only use 4low when I would be offroading. 4hi is for when you get a little scared on the roads when they are slippy :D
