........hi guys, new member from blighty.

over the years i have been an avid ford explorer fan, but, i have had my ardour for these trucks weakened by reliability issues. thank you ford [:@]

i am going looking at a chevvy blazer this afternoon, a 4.3 v6 ls, a vortec i believe is the name of the engine. its a year 2000 model right hand drive uk spec.
and was wondering if there was any issue's i should look for. i.e. the explorer has timing chain problems, which if you know what to look/listen for is easily detectable, and then avoided.

so any help info will be greatly received. i will be looking to purchasing a blazer sooner rather than later, as i do not like the options availible here. shogun/exceed, land rovers are poor also. nissan patrols cost the earth and i do not like jeeps.

all the best guys and thanks in advance.

mick.

I can tell you one thing to look for is the front end. Specifically ball joints. If the ball joints have nuts/bolts then they have been replaced which is good and makes life easier. If they have rivets they are the stock ones and should be replaced. Are you looking at getting a 4x4?

thanks for the replys guys.

good heads up on the ball joints there, the one i'm looking at is a bit clunky on the ball joints.
yes i do want a 4x4. as i said been driving round in explorers now for 6 years, and enjoy the freedom of a 4x4. i shoot and fish, have dogs, and do go off road a bit. plus i enjoy the driving, but not the fuel aspect.
have a look at the above link, i hope it works. thats the truck i'm after. a real bargain too. a bit skint at the mo and trying to raise the cash by saturday.fingers crossed.

Welcome from New Zealand.

Which of the 10?

I'd get the 2000 LT model with the "ULTRAFUELEFFICIENT" vortec engine. That's the oneI want! (tongue in cheek)

Also, make sure you get the RHD model. The LHD's are wierd! LOL
