View Full Version : R.I.P Blazer Totaled, Fliped
cr8390 07-10-2009, 02:51 PM Down in VA beach today i was making a left across 4 lanes i went across the first 2 and there was no one else coming from the other side so i continued to go. I was going about 30 mph when i tried to finish the left the car started swaying to the left and i jerked the steering wheel stupid move on my part btw. The truck flipped and rolled over on to the passenger side. Heres the pic. I had my gf and her friend with me everyone is ok just some cuts and scrapes we all had our seat belts on thank god. I dont know what im going to do about another car it depends on how much the insurance company gives me for it.

Psychropod 07-10-2009, 03:54 PM Damn, that sucks. Glad everyone's okay.
cr8390 07-10-2009, 04:01 PM thanks yea im surprised at how well the blazer stood up it kept us safe in the truck you gotta love those all steel trucks!! I definitly getting another blazer or im getting my dads land rover freelander w.e is best 4 the money. I might also look into finacing a preowned trailblazer i dont know at this point i have 2 wait and see what my insurance company wants to give me 4 it.... thank god for collison insurance but what sucks is the cop gave me a reckless driving ticket because i had 2 passengers in the truck
PyroCustoms 07-10-2009, 05:30 PM i got a ticket for carless driving when i hit someone in the rear end doing 20 b/c they cut in front of me and jammed on their friggin brakes. it sucks how they try to screw you over.
PyroCustoms 07-10-2009, 05:30 PM oh and sorry to hear the truck has to go. it was one of my favorites for the short time that ive been on this website. =( wonder how you feel.
okvortec 07-10-2009, 05:46 PM Good thing everyone is alright! Two blazers totaled in 2 weeks..uhoh..
L1VEEV1L 07-10-2009, 06:57 PM Man thats definitly NO good, good thing everyone was cool though. Keep ya head up bro Things will look up for ya. A blazer is just a truck (a BAD A$$ truck!) but it aint worth noones life, you had someone lookin out for you that day man. Rest Easy Blazer...:icon_smallest:R.I.P.
bobditts 07-10-2009, 07:06 PM doesnt look like those subs were bolted down. lucky those didnt fly up and hit someone. Did it feel like there was a mechanical failure or you were just taking the turn too fast?
stevo 07-10-2009, 07:07 PM i know how it feels man
ours was totaled on the 28th of june
ours was a 2000 4x4 4dr ls and our insurance gave us 4530
depending on which insurance you got it might be around there
sorry bout it man
Ugly_Monkey 07-10-2009, 07:22 PM Sorry to here about your accident, glad everyone is OK though!
swartlkk 07-10-2009, 07:33 PM Damn! Glad everyone is ok!!
cr8390 07-10-2009, 08:05 PM thanks everyone i appreciate it and thanks for the nice comments about me and my truck. Thats good news stevo makes me feel good i thought i was going to get low balled on it like 1500 2000 dollars i have nationwide. Also my subs were strapped down and didnt move a inch. They were unharmed thankfully and if they werent straped down they would have hurt someone they weight alot.
Funny thing about the blazer was when the truck finally came to stop it was still running in drive. I actually put it in park and turned it off, also when it was on the tow truck i hit the lock button and it locked and beeped.
Hopefully i get some good money from the insurance company it was in great condition had 92,000 miles on it i just did the oil change before i drove to va beach and before i crashed i filled it up with gas. But thanks again everyone im just happy everyone is ok. Ill update the thread with new info as i get it. I plan on staying around on the forums even if i dont get another blazer but im almost certain iam.
Big Keith 07-10-2009, 08:33 PM Nice to here that everyone is alright & SORRY about the Blazer..my friend got in a accident last night in his 2000 ZR2 got totaled hit on passenger side no one hurt a little sore. some A#%&*%# went through a red light. I am trying to get pic's
cr8390 07-10-2009, 09:07 PM thanks man and sorry about your friends blazer that sucks
foxxie 07-11-2009, 02:10 AM Sorry to hear about the accident but was glad that everyone is ok.
bandidolenny 07-11-2009, 02:22 AM That sucks! Yep, that was a nice Blazer too... glad everyone is ok.
Biohazed 07-11-2009, 08:09 AM really sorry about your loss, but very glad everyone is ok, after all that is the important part, the Blazer, even though all the work and everything that you put into her is replaceable, however you and everyone else are not!
Baja Blazer 85 07-11-2009, 11:54 AM So glad everyone is ok. Thats impressive safety right there.
Looks like alot of cops showed up. Got enough cruisers?
stevo 07-11-2009, 01:53 PM you might even get more, since you have like a national insurance company
and lower miles
we have kentucky farm bureau
and big keith thats exactly what happened with us
some guy tried to run a redlight, across a highway and we t boned them
amazinnblazin 07-11-2009, 02:32 PM Yeah that sucks, but, don't cross 4 lanes of traffic....
Big Keith 07-11-2009, 05:33 PM stevo Sorry to hear that was everyone OK? Man she got hit good "what did the other one look like"
Alabama Blazer 07-11-2009, 06:09 PM Man its like blazers are made to be safe to roll cause I did about the same thing to mine if the frame wasnt bent it would have drove off no broken windows anything. I totaled it but It was 4wd 4dr with like 60000 on it and I got 9000 for mine from the insurance company i must have been lucky.
cr8390 07-11-2009, 06:22 PM ill post some pics of what i was talking about and some new pics from the yard where i went to take everything out today

swartlkk 07-11-2009, 07:28 PM Looks like it held up well!
okvortec 07-11-2009, 07:30 PM Take the rim and tires too!!! or at least the rims... im lookin at buying some haha
cr8390 07-11-2009, 09:10 PM held up great everyone inside the car was very protected and the seatbelts worked great..... my airbags didnt go off but thats cause it wasnt a front end collison and i couldnt take the rims cause i couldnt replace them with others. The rims were like 300 im not to mad. The tires had like 45 percent tread left and the front tires were gashed all around from the tires going in the fenders. My tranny was also starting to act up ad i needed rotors and my ebrake blew im very mad that i lost the truck with all the money i put into it. But at the same time i can't wait to get another blazer / jimmy and start over from scratch.
stevo 07-11-2009, 09:14 PM man i hate to see blazers wrecked
and yea everyones ok
and 10-4 on that, it is never good to cross 4 lanes of traffic on a redlight
luckily at the time the highway was deserted
just we were the unfortunate ones that were traveling on it
the guy was on his cell phone not paying attention
and he said he never saw us coming
here is the link to my thread
http://blazerforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32360
and yea man, i cant wait to see what you do with the next one
it sucks, but what can ya do?
the insurance said we had frame and subframe damage, if we didnt id probably fix it for myself
Shotgunn99 07-12-2009, 10:12 PM this is awful for the both of you =/. glad everyone is ok, and hope you can find some new :icon_playing:toys soon. =]
are you guys going to be parting out your trucks?
stevo 07-12-2009, 11:12 PM well the truck was owned by my dad, and i suggested it but he said the insurance would give us less money for it, and even though it still ran
we had to find a way to get it about 50 miles to our house
so that wouldnt be worth it
Shotgunn99 07-12-2009, 11:24 PM i understand. sorry about your truck though =/ i would be heart broken
cr8390 07-13-2009, 11:45 AM my truck was to messed up and i wasnt getting it towed 200 miles back 2 my house haha
amazinnblazin 07-14-2009, 05:15 PM BTW - I think that in some states if an accident is caused by the state's fault (i.e. - THE POTHOLE!!) then the state is liable for your losses, vehicular and personal..... something you might look into
GMJimmy 07-15-2009, 01:19 AM Sorry to hear about your Blazer. I'm sure you've heard this a million times over, but when it comes down to it, everything that was really important got out of the car that day.
Man that thing held up well though.
oktain 07-15-2009, 07:43 AM BTW - I think that in some states if an accident is caused by the state's fault (i.e. - THE POTHOLE!!) then the state is liable for your losses, vehicular and personal..... something you might look into
Definitely look into it. You may have enough money after the fact to import one from Kiwi-land lol. How many RHD Blazer's are there in North America I wonder? lol.
haha wow the vent visors are still on it. amazing.
versital98 07-15-2009, 03:31 PM what a shame. sorry to hear about your blazer.
blazerguy22 07-15-2009, 05:39 PM well that sucks about the trucks for both of you guys but im glad everyone is OK if they have not picked up the truck yet get your head and taillights out of it yo might be able to recoup some cash on ebay or put em in your new truck
cr8390 07-26-2009, 02:13 PM Update everyone the insurance company gave me $5,500 for the blazer. They said they added the extra $1000 in because it only had 93,000 miles on it. While we were in new york my dad surprised me and bought me a new to me truck. 2003 Trailblazer LT with 60,000 miles on it, it very clean no problems at all it did have a 1 little dent and a scratch or 2 but nothing bad and i can probably easly buff them out. He payed 9,000 for it. Heres the pics (mods coming soon idk what im doing to it first my stereos going in it thought my subs my headunit amp and speakers)

Well you're one lucky son! hahaha wish my dad would go out and buy me a new truck. Congrats on the new ride though, looks like a great deal he got. I'm not sure I like trailblazers, and I don't think the offroad capabilities are anywhere close to a blazer but hey, atleast you got yourself a new truck!
mech cb 07-26-2009, 04:43 PM Man, that sucks to hear! I guess that happened while I was on my trip to texas, so I'm just now hearing about it. That really sucks though! Your truck was one of my favorites on here-well, lets see what you can do to this trailblazer!
Unlimitedsp 07-26-2009, 05:56 PM Nice! love the trailblazers. He got a good deal on it. I looked at an 03 before i bought the bravada but didnt want to spend 12,000 on it. Now dont roll this one, lol.
Now dont roll this one, lol.
lol, x2 on that one. Watch out for them pot holes! Be sure to keep us updated here of over on GMTF on your builds, even though you don't drive a blazer anymore. I'd still like to see what you do with it.
EuroGoldLS 07-26-2009, 06:22 PM Thats a scary feeling when you lose control.
I found myself in the same situation last year, except my Blazer is lowered and much less roll-over prone. Ended up backward in a ditch. The hitch took the blow.
I hate that for you man. Glad you were ok and glad you got a new truck.
midnightbluS10 07-27-2009, 07:23 AM So what exactly happened? You were turning, the truck started swaying, and flipped? Sounds sketchy at best.
So what exactly happened? You were turning, the truck started swaying, and flipped? Sounds sketchy at best.
if you read through you will see there was a pothole he hit and caused him to flip...there is a nice diagram of it too lol..
Psychropod 07-27-2009, 02:15 PM Mine should have been totalled a year ago, but my Blazer has a guardian angel. The left ball joint broke off, and I nearly lost control at 70 mph. It skidded to a halt with just inches to spare between the guardrail and the leftmost highway lane. I am sooooooo paranoid now, when it comes to ball joints and wheel bearings. Check them regularly!
cr8390 07-28-2009, 07:01 PM haha yea, and sisk i still have a blazer its just a trailblazer lol and the offroad capabilites are going to be the same if not better, i havent tried it yet my dad said no mud for a little bit until i get used to it. I love it though and i dont know what im doing to it yet, probably grill new headlight bulbs grille guard some lights my stereo dual exhaust and ill take it from there
JST4SHO 07-28-2009, 07:49 PM Slap some TB SS rims on it.
foxxie 07-29-2009, 02:46 AM Congrats on the new ride cr8390.
I like it!!!
okvortec 07-29-2009, 02:59 AM the offroad capabilites are going to be the same if not better
No.
Slap some TB SS rims on it.
Yes.
There is no way the Trailblazer will even come close to comparing to a Blazer in off road capabilities. You can't easily lift a Trailblazer, which means no decent offroading tires. Hate to tell ya, but I agree with Martin.
The Trailblazer was made more for a family type SUV IMO...not for offroading.
swartlkk 07-29-2009, 12:10 PM Congrats on the new ride Ryan!
Stock for stock, the GMT360 platform will outperform the S-series. Comparing my Rainier to my cousin's 2002 Blazer is night and day when checking tree stands, etc down back of my dad's place. And he had more aggressive tires on his truck.
The ~2" lift for the GMT360 platform is fairly easy as well and involves 4 spacers, one for each corner. And body lifts are also available. Beyond that and the front differential being tied to the oil pan gets very restrictive. That is the biggest downfall of the GMT360 platform and where the S-series takes advantage with the available 5-6" lifts that drop the diff. But I am sure that some enterprising company is looking into doing essentially the same thing for the GMT360/370 platform.
For more information and pictures of lifted GMT360 trucks, check out THIS THREAD (http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=48318) (trailvoy.com).
mr.hotrod 07-29-2009, 05:53 PM ouch sorry about your truck :( My bro got in a wreck in mine, all that was lost was
1 windsheld
2 headlights
1 grill
1 OOOOLLLLLDDDDD horse
the ice made my bro loose control. And the farmer got more out of insurance than me.:icon_doh:
cr8390 08-02-2009, 11:00 AM thanks kyle and thanks everyone else i really appreciate it!!
PaulO2288 08-02-2009, 07:01 PM Ill take it as headlights, taillights, exhaust, cold air intake, interior lights, HID's, Rims, Tires, are a deffinate, well for me at least lol. But im glad you got a new truck I did like your truck alot. I was the one who was talking about if you were still in NY I wanted to come meet up with you. And what motors in it by anychance?
Blazin NC 08-02-2009, 08:37 PM Great new ride... love the color. Good luck, you got tons of potential there! Glad it all worked out.
cr8390 08-02-2009, 10:05 PM thanks man i still love your truck haha
wolfen 08-04-2009, 07:25 PM Dude, that was you? When we went by they were still out there with cameras, glad to hear everybody made it out alive
Good luck, you got tons of potential there!
Definitely agree with this comment! You have a completely clean (and stock) pallet to play with! Can't wait to see what you do with it. Keep us posted.

You call that wrecked? Around here, people would buy that back from the insurance company, lag bolt some plexiglas across the a-posts, duct tape semi-clear plastic over the windows, and drive it 20 under the limit with no insurance.
You call that wrecked? Around here, people would buy that back from the insurance company, lag bolt some plexiglas across the a-posts, duct tape semi-clear plastic over the windows, and drive it 20 under the limit with no insurance.
And where are you from? Remind me never to drive there...
oktain 08-31-2009, 07:43 AM And where are you from? Remind me never to drive there...
Just so you don't get sued for sneezing on that passing car and cause it to fall apart. :icon_doh: Yeah, we call that wrecked, so does the insurance company, the repairs would cost more than the vehicle's worth.
Not to mention trying to repair a roll over and driving it again is just plain dangerous. The structural integrity of the vehicle would be completely shot.
Unlimitedsp 08-31-2009, 09:14 AM And where are you from? Remind me never to drive there...
lol. Me to. Around here a cracked tailight gets you pulled over.
rocktheguitarist 08-31-2009, 07:47 PM wow. sorry about the loss man. and tell me about fixing a truck for more than its worth. just destroyed my blazer a while ago, bought it for 5200 and im at 6900 so far for rebuilding it. but nice new truck man keep us updated on the mods.
wlorton 08-31-2009, 08:03 PM Thats crazy... sorry man
Thats crazy... sorry man
Wasn't all bad...he got a brand newish TrailBlazer out of the accident. So with bad, comes good.
KD5NRH 09-03-2009, 12:49 PM And where are you from? Remind me never to drive there...
North central Texas, though I think I actually saw more vehicles like that on a trip to New Mexico.
I was at Sonic the other day, and there was a couple in a Suburban that had the "rollover arch" to the roof, no windows on the back half, and an amazing amount of crap stuffed in the back. (I don't know how any of it stayed in.) I couldn't see the inspection sticker, but judging by the headlight hanging from its wires, it probably wasn't current.
oktain 09-03-2009, 02:37 PM Wow, and I thought the wooden spoilers on banged up civics and electrical tape covering rust spots we get around here were bad.
Ether 09-05-2009, 11:40 PM that sucks. well guess u have to build one bigger and better to ease the pain.
Brianator99 09-08-2009, 10:28 PM Sorry about the Blazer man. Good everyone was okay. Be glad you didnt have a foreign job tin can.
elementtrev 09-09-2009, 04:13 AM You call that wrecked? Around here, people would buy that back from the insurance company, lag bolt some plexiglas across the a-posts, duct tape semi-clear plastic over the windows, and drive it 20 under the limit with no insurance.
:icon_goofygrin: thats what we did with my buddies audi 90 that he flipped.
sorry about your loss man.
Biohazed 09-09-2009, 06:59 PM You call that wrecked? Around here, people would buy that back from the insurance company, lag bolt some plexiglas across the a-posts, duct tape semi-clear plastic over the windows, and drive it 20 under the limit with no insurance.
you must be from Philly, lol
PaulO2288 09-10-2009, 11:35 AM Any updates on how the new trailblazer is?
ejschultz 09-10-2009, 03:04 PM I'm sorry to hear about your Blazer but I'm glad to hear that everyone was okay. At least it was a good wreck. I'd be pissed if my Jimmy or Caprice was totaled for some stupid reason. If you're going to crash, do it right and make it good. It looks like you had the road closed. Pretty impressive. But, like I said, at least everyone was okay. Hell, and you got a newer Trailblazer out of it.
OneLoudBlazer 10-07-2009, 08:23 PM Im sorry about your truck =( losing my truck would be like losing a family member.
ejschultz 10-10-2009, 06:11 AM Im sorry about your truck =( losing my truck would be like losing a family member.
With all the stuff that's been f*cking up on my truck lately, losing mine would be like losing that aunt that no one likes. I'd be obligated to be upset, but it would be a good thing in the long run.
