I have a tan 2001 Blazer. I looked up the paint codes in the glove box and it says 382e (aka pewter). I went to Advanced Auto and the paint is gray in color. Does it lighten up when it drys??

Do you have any pics? tony991 10-09-2009, 07:23 AM Ya... heres a pic...hope it works lol blazerguy22 10-09-2009, 08:32 AM to answer your question... it may lighten up it may not no way to be sure until you spray it. now on that note your best bet is to find an automotive paint supply store that can "chip" the car most colors are chosen about 2 years before they hit the car and the "standard almost never makes it on the car, if your pewter looks more tan than gray then it could be that you have a variance from the standard painted on your truck. it could also be that you have the standard and that the paint you bought needs clearcoat to be brought up to match. however your best bet is still to find an auto paint supply store have them bring the camera out and get them to mix you some matching paint (most places will chip or camera check the code for free and some places can mix paint into spray cans) tony991 10-09-2009, 02:49 PM Well, the pewter color (like mine) can take different hues depending on the light, but I've never seen it look 'tan'. Zeeke98 10-09-2009, 09:12 PM Pewter can fade too and look different than what the original paint did and touch up paint will look like. What brand paint did you get? tony991 10-10-2009, 07:55 AM I was looking at the touch up paint in Advanced Auto. I didnt buy it yet cause i didnt want to waste the money if it was the wrong color... |
