Well, this is a small clip I shot with my digital camera... so I hope it sounds ok. I was shot with a Sony Cybershot 4.1 mega pixels

The exhaust, is a Series 40 muffler.... I had previous thought I got a super 40, but I read the paperwork and realized I didn't have the super 40.

*EDIT* you can also see the nice puff of white smoke that always comes out my exhaust when she is started up.....

I was thinkin about a new exhaust, something a little deeper than stock so it will sound more like a V8. So would the 40 series be recommended. If not, which would y'all think.

I do not know if the smoke is from oil, or biult up condensation like has been suggested before. Apparently, all the old blazers like mine blow the smoke out of them when started. I do not know if it's blow by or not. I know the smoke is white, and smells a tad bit burnt, but that's it.

as for recommending a muffler...... I don't like how the 40 series is not high on the agressiveness, and their website touts it as the most aggressive one they have.... I would personally look elsewhere if a loud aggresive one is wanted.

Love my 40 series 2. Much improved over stock and definitely the best 100 dollars you can put into your ride.[8D]

all I did was change the muffler, nothing else. still has the stock cat and everything else. I doubt the muffler does that much of a difference, unless your refering to the smoke....

as for making the clip, that was easy, as my digital camera has the option to record video, then I just edited it for length in Quick Video Converter.

Precats must be worn, they are supposed to help with emissions on cold startups.

Audio was good. I may consider a Flowmaster 40 someday too.

My girls call the 93 Blazer puff......when she's cold, she throws a nice cloud, just like snipers.

Sounds good. I'm gonna have to try a video clip with my camera ( if I don't get a video camera for Christmas)
I'd love to see and hear my truck doing something radical!

Now that is a good way to help trouble shoot an issue.

I would be checkin:
plugs for white tips (means a coolent leak)
Cat (due to it might just be all screwed up and needs to be replaced or other option)
Emissions system (for any other failed or not needed part)

Could be as simple as your valve guides are letting oil by when cold.

I prefer the sound of a glasspack. Best $25 I ever spent on a new muffler.

Where did you get your glasspack at?? was it much work to get it on? did you need extra piping?

what inlet and outlet did you get?

the term glasspack is very broad. there are hundreds of styles of glasspack mufflers. Are you referring to a straight thru glasspack like a cherry bomb, or are you referring to a glasspack muffler like the dynomax super turbo?

which ever one thar Hanr3 was talking about. If he says the sound of a 25dollar one is great... then, I totally respect that without even having to hear it myself.

Just curious whish one it is, and where did he get it. And what the sizes of it are. Oh yeah, is there a performance gain, or just for noise?

You mean the UltraFlo. the Super Turbo has no packing.

Cherry Bombs.
http://www.supremeperformance.com/DisplayTab.aspx?tid=3&pid=66

I have themon the '87 and the '93. The '93 sounds better for a couple of reasons. Namely the healthy towing cam and a 4.3 engine verse the '87 2putt8 engine.

The straight through design is great at increaseing horsepower, torque, and noise levels. At idle it has a nice mellow rumble, under light acceleration its not loud, cruising you can hear it, put under heavy acceleration you know its there. [8D]

Supreme Performance makes other versions of performance mufflers. The Vortex is comparable to Flowmasters and the like.

So, you bought it off the internet? or did you get it from a store, like autozone, or from a catalog like JC Whitney?

I bought them froma store called Blains Farm& Fleet. Its a upper midwest chain.

I believe the website I linked to has a locator feature on the bar across the top? Punch in your zip code and it will list local places to you.

wishful thinking.... everytime I click on the "where to buy" link, all I get is a blank page.

if it works for you, I am 66612.

thanks for the link. It looks like no one here in town sells them. I need to travel all the way over to Lawrence to get them.....

How does it compare to the Flow-Tech cherry bombs??

Hanr3

No idea. These are the only ones I have used.

By Chance Hanr3, do you have a sound clip of the cherry bomb on the 4.3L??

I went to buy one, but my friend who owned it before me, said he had tried it, and it sounded like total crap.

now I understand yours is on the vortec, and mine is just the TBI... but I would like to hear it first if you happen to have a clip.

thanks.

Nope, sorry I am not that computer literate yet.
I have a cam-corder, have video I took of various things. however I have yet to figure out how to download it to my PC, let alone get it to play on the internet. Let me see if I can figure something out this weekend.

If you've got a camcorder, you can probably use the wire that connects your speakers to your computer as an input...

Connect it to the headphone jack on the camera, then connect the other end of the wire to the Line In on your computer (microphone will work, but not too great...) And use a sound editing program that can record MP3's and you're on your way!

Hey man, sounds good. I have a 98 blazer with a custom exhaust I did. It sounds pretty good I think. I used a 80 series crossflow flowmaster camero muffler. I relocated the spare tire and put the muffler just behind the rear end and then the pipes exit straight out the rear with 3.5" Chrome tips, soon to be replaced with 5" tips. The white smoke is your valve guide seals in your heads, just normal wear for a engine that old. That is why it has a little burnt smell. Nothing to worry about until you do a rebuild to your engine then you can get the heads reworked. If you know anybody that knows anything about doing a Straight Axle Swap to my blazer let me know. Later Amigo. Gary.
