View Full Version : Freshly installed then off-roading.
ceanern 08-05-2006, 12:48 AM Posted these under another person post but I'm not sure if they ever worked for everyone I now know they will work. i'm having a difficult time deciding if I want to keep these rims and go with a suspension lift or body lift. Or if I want to sell them and go with 15" x 8" rim instead. but on to the pics

Let me know what your guys/gals thoughts are.
Kellen 08-05-2006, 01:04 AM what are the specs on those wheels/tires
ceanern 08-05-2006, 01:23 AM 29x10.5R15 the actuall rim size is 15"x10" The tires are super swamper TSL/SX
Paddle_grl 08-05-2006, 02:44 AM holey crap battman!!! those be some big tires!!!
mtncrsr 08-05-2006, 04:13 AM man those tires are nice.save up for a lift next. just my thoughts!
ceanern 08-05-2006, 01:17 PM They throw the mud pretty dang good. The only thing is I'm not sure if I want a 2" suspension or just go with a 2" body lift. The only other problem is I'm gonna need fender flares. But I just need to find out how big of a fender flare they fit pretty dang good on the rear just the front is where i'm gonna have the problems and is where I'm running into problems.
Hanr3 08-06-2006, 03:32 AM LEt me guess, your hitting the rear of the fender on the outside by the body?
What is the backspacing on those rims?
Personally if it was mine, 2" body lift. Save the demaro and do a solid axle swap.
Those tires look awesome on your truck. I love it.
ceanern 08-06-2006, 03:43 AM That is what I was thinking. It is the outside edge. just barely catching it. I need to get fender flares tho. cause there illegal as of right now. And in pa they said it is like 100 each tire that sticks out past the body line. Only problem is they are fine on the rear only about 1" maybe 1 1/2" the front is like 2 1/2" I think. i like the IFS but at the same time dislike it cause I need to get my cv shaft boots redone. Possibly new shafts so I know I don't need to worry about them busting. I already busted the water pump my first hard day of off-roading. I think it was probably already going I just aided it the rest of the way. I wouldn't mind doing that axle swap but I know Pa has some really crappy lift laws.
flowmasta 08-06-2006, 05:01 PM that sucks i love the way those tires look....beefy is better try finding fender flares off a junked zr2 or something to keep the cost down.....and y did u choose a 2" lift
ceanern 08-06-2006, 05:28 PM I havn't gotten a lift just yet. Right now it is sitting stock. I want a 4" lift but not something that is easily found for a 99 2 dr. Plus PA has some strict lift laws. And the main ppl that will be a pain with them are local law enforcement. Also with the trails in my area which is like 2 maybe 4 There isn't really anything need super ground clearence. I've cleared most everything with my stock suspension and stock tires on it other than my towing hitch. But that is because I never took the receiver off the back end other than that I have cleared everything I've come across. I Have a heavier duty shocks on the blazer being Rancho RSX shocks. But I've still managed to bust up a bump stop since getting them but since then I releveled the front end by cranking my torsion bar. I have a sag or weak passanger side torsion bar I believe because that is cranked full. and the drivers side is about halfway and it is just sitting level in the front. and I have weak leaf's on passanger side. I also figured with a 2" lift being i'm probably going body lift for now with bigger tires will pretty much be good for now. Also this is my wifes daily driver til we can get a more econmical car for her. Then it will only be used for offroading, towing, camping, and winter time use being a I spend 2 hours round trip to work and don't want to be caught without a 4x4.
m00nwater 08-06-2006, 11:05 PM Mmmm...meaty........
that looks incredible!!! when you have a little time can you take pics for me of something? I need pics of the ZR2 stickers as well as the flaring that is stock around the truck. I am *thinking* to put that flaring on my truck... so if you decide to get rid of it... lemme know? i MIGHT buy it. ;)
swartlkk 08-07-2006, 12:16 PM Where is there a ZR2 in this thread??? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a 4x4 2dr...
m00nwater 08-07-2006, 01:57 PM Ya, what the hell are you looking at Dory?! :D

Ya, what the hell are you looking at Dory?! :D
Yikes... Welp... I'm glad I didn't put it like that - LOL!!!
ceanern 08-07-2006, 03:43 PM All I have on it is a 4x4 sticker I picked up at autozone. And the flair is that little body lip that is on the s-10's
Hanr3 08-08-2006, 01:38 AM LMC has some decent priced fender flares. The pocket flares would look the best, but they ain't cheap.
You can fix your rubbing issue when you get fender flares. You will have to trim that portion of hte fender, however the fender flares can cover up the cut edge.
Here's a few pics of my fender trimming and I covered up the trim work with the stock chrome piece.

I trimmed about 2" off the front and rear of all my wheel wells. Installed a 3" body lift and am running 33" tires.
Since then I put on some Cooper Discovery STT in 33" and ripped most of that beuaty ring off.

flowmasta 08-08-2006, 01:40 AM wow those tires are siiiick.....what kind of coopers are they and could u get me a deal for a set of 5 that would fit on 17s on my 96?
jagblazer01 08-08-2006, 01:52 AM dude that looks awsome

So are you going for a mudder-with-shiny-rims look?[8D]
flowmasta 08-08-2006, 02:48 AM well probably not muddies....but that would be sick......if i was to do that i would need an insane lift wouldnt i?....na i just want beefy tread and tires with some of that classic beefy overhang over the rim to get that offroad effect with the 17s since i dont wanna drop it....and i do want a nice cowl hood next
1996BZR 08-08-2006, 03:18 AM oh yea. I see where you're goin. it'd be pretty sweet. I personally like that wheel/tire combo of ceanern's.
you know, that blazer of yours (flowmasta) already looks great. maybe get rid of that spare. but, you're already tryin to do that.[8D]
flowmasta 08-08-2006, 03:40 AM the spares going...and im getting the following

Hanr3 08-08-2006, 03:40 AM Check out Cooper Tires website. Go to the Truck tires, look for the STT.
They have 33x12.5x17" tires.
I am not after a mudder with shiny wheels. The wheels would distract from the rust holes. [8D]
http://offroadworld.tenmagazines.com/gallery/Hanr3/148310.jpg
flowmasta 08-08-2006, 03:41 AM i figure those rims and those tires times 5 would be one hot addition to my blazer....since i dont wanna get bigger rims and risk 1 bending them and 2 loose the beefyness of the blazer i love so much....so my solution beefy tires w000t...i think it would be sick
1996BZR 08-08-2006, 03:46 AM LOL......hey, rust holes tell people, "hey I ain't scared! Wanna piece o' me...holdon...let's see what this rust looks like on you!" [8D] Yea, great look. And flowmasta: A shiny spare will really complete your blazer. Hey, just like that one right thur!
flowmasta 08-08-2006, 03:47 AM yes i see it now rims....with big tires and a big beefy shiny spare.....my dreams come true!!!
1996BZR 08-08-2006, 03:53 AM Hey, if your next dream come true is being a senior member, you only need 4 more posts. But don't be a post whore to get them. Not that any of us would be. Just Slow and steady for me...slow and steady
oops, now only three
flowmasta 08-08-2006, 03:57 AM lol aww man i thought u were racing me to become a senior haha......but na good posts good posts....and by the by if i got a lift how much of a lift would i need to get full out muddies on my truck..and at what price?
1996BZR 08-08-2006, 03:59 AM that's funny...I was thinkin you was tryin to pass me or somethin. you probably will by tomorrow though.
and you might as well go with a 6 inch lift to really get 'er off the ground.
flowmasta 08-08-2006, 04:01 AM lol na u got a good lead...but i was racing u to hit that 100.....but once u hit it i was just postin for the sheer fun of posting
1996BZR 08-08-2006, 04:03 AM aww don't give up now...you're so close to 100
and a six inch lift would run you a few grand
flowmasta 08-08-2006, 04:05 AM a few gs? for that much i could go with the airride system....i think they came out with one for a taller suspension like offroad style not just low ride suspension
1996BZR 08-08-2006, 04:07 AM yea, airride has stuff now for performance, towing, lowriding, etc., etc., etc. They've really come a long way.
ceanern 08-08-2006, 08:37 AM I was looking at the trimming. I check on prices on the flares and I couldn't believe the price on them. I'm thinking with mine (will get pics today) I might be able to just whack off the lower part of my fenders and have a bit more clearance. Cause there isn't much room for me to cut it back in a angle like you did hanr. Almost where the well ends is the backing. But will get pics up. I'm hoping to get to a parts store today and pick up a body lift if I can get ahold of a friend whois dad works there. Was told he gets like a 25% discount. and they price match from online stores. all I ahve to do is bring a print out in. They carry the performance accessory body lift for 299. Which summit has it for 208. After taxes it is like 220. and if that discount can happen and is real I'm only gonna be spending 165ish I think. :)
flowmasta 08-08-2006, 01:35 PM sounds good....let me know how it go's i might wanna lift too
ceanern 08-09-2006, 11:58 PM Here is a few more pics. Here is where I"m having the issue. Wish I could cut it back like hanr had suggested.
