trying to bring back the shine on a 92 s-10 blazer.need help

Does it have a good clear coat? If the clear is poor, you may have to use a slightly abrasive polish, but be VERY careful not to burn through the clear. If it is really poor, wet sanding may be necessary, but again, you MUST take your time and be VERY careful!

As far as good waxes, I have always liked Meguiar's NXT line of waxes. I always use paste waxes because I think they work better. I liked the depth of shine from the new Turtle Wax Ice, but it is not a wax and as such, it doesn't fill in the light scratches in the finish.

If the paint is good, use some ZAINO, its expensive but its the best. Cant get it in stores, gotta search for distributers on the net.

I've used ZAINO and, IMO, it wasn't worth the additional cost. It didn't last any longer than the Meguiars NXT paste did on my Bonneville and you can only tell the difference in depth/shine from <5ft and it PERFECT lighting. I didn't purchase it, but rather used a friends bottle right before a meet.

buff with cloth baby diapers....lol sounds crazy, but its a very soft pure cloth... works well for shine.... I used to driva a black vehicle.... shane was hard to come by... I dont care with the blazer... its white....

Good to know that someone out there has had a crap experience with it, I havnt heard anything bad about it yet. I only know about it thru high end guys with the dinans and f430's some vipers and turbo vettes, the money guys, they swear by it and it did a fantastic job on my blue paint.



Aaron, 3M makes a cloth that blows baby diapers out of the water, I used to do the baby diaper thing they got retired to grease rags after I found the cloth from 3M, Im not sure about store buying but I got em from a detailing supply guy when I worked at a body shop

Oh, by no means am I saying it is a crap product. Quite to the contrary. I really loved the look, but it was very similar to the shine/depth produced by Mequiars products. My experience with it doesn't make it worth the money and hassle of getting more of it.

Not to mention that most of the time I don't know how much of anything I have in my garage. I only know when I'm out of something when I need it. Running down to the local Walmart to buy another tin of NXT is by far easier than waiting for something mail/internet order to show up at my doorstep!

And on the towels. I use microfiber towels and 3M has some of the best microfiber towels.

Gotcha, what kinda meguires do you guys recommend though?

I used the pro line(tan bottles) when I had paint worth giving a crap about.

Stuff goes on super easy and comes off just as easy pretty much no matter how long you leave it on. I will typically do 2 coats and call it good. With NXT I can put 2 coats on in the time that the old Mequiar's Gold Class took me to do one due to how easy the NXT is to get off.

anybody tried that fuzzy ball thing you put on your drill and spin it for your wheels and stuff? i always use meguiars on my cars and trucks.

Thats because it has more of a water base then gold class does, same with " The Wax Shop" products, meant for speedy application and removals.

Kyle has this one nailed guys! NXT paste is a really good product. The guy's my brother gets his Kandi colors from, reccomended it as the only paste wax I should use for my paint. He said 2 coats once a month and a liquid wax, such as ICE by Turtle Wax, or Meguiar's In-Between Spray Wax once a week would keep my paint protected and shining.

I use Zymol wax. I bought it at Advance Auto parts. I think it was like 13 bucks. It worked awesome on my blazer. I could see myself like a mirror. The shine lasts a long time.

meguiars gold class is good stuff... The zymbol is also a good product if your paint is old and kinda dirty... It has a polishing compuond in it. If the paint is old, use a polishing compound like turtle wax polishing compound and then wax with something else to restore it.... like meguiars gold class.... however the zymbol is like two in one, but after repetitive use it becomes very hard to buff off (swirl free) of darker colored paints... used it for 2 years on a black truck and had to use an electric buffer to get the swirls out, but man does it shine...lol

I used the polishing compuond method with good quality wax to restore the shine on an old cadillac... worked very very well....

you cant go wrong with gold class or nxt. i use gold class more but i actually like nxt more just dont have any right now:D

I too prefer NXT over Gold Class. I just think its easier to apply and remove with very similar results in depth and shine.

i think the shine looks different. gold class looks like a brand new paint job. nxt has a real wet shine to me i dont know maybe im just weird.

I know what you mean and I agree. With both of my vehicles being black, the wet shine looks better to me. The Gold Class did seem to last a bit longer though. Although neither of them last as long as TurtleWax ICE, but ICE doesn't fill in the light scratches like a true wax does.

I use Meguiar's clay bar first and then Mequiar's Gold Class wax. Makes my truck look and feel like new.
