I was trying to get my front drivers side wheel out of a small snowbank by alternating from reverse to drive. I was not being abusive, but I was shifting back and forth and accelerating at the same time. After only 5 or 6 attempts, reverse just stopped engaging. My neighbor pulled me out, but no matter if I'm in 4lo, 4hi, 2 wd , I've got no reverse. All other gears are fine, there's no noises, tranny fluid is a little low but still on the stick. Is this something I can fix myself? It's a 2000, and well maintained.I'm pretty mechanical, so I would try if it's not too complex. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

You broke the reverse drum. Time for a rebuild. This is something that happens to the 4L60E trans. Seen it a hundred times, if not more. And the best part, it don't matter how good it is maintained, it will still break!!! I am waiting for the day mine won't go into R. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Korey.

I got a used trannie for around 600 dollars when my reverse blew....unfortunately it was probably a problem that had been going on for a bit..and it just chose now to do it...
