Default Dash removal question

Hey everyone, I am having a little problem getting my stock stereo out, this is my first car and I havent done it before. To start off it's a 2 door 1996 blazer LS, the stereo is a tape deck (yikes!!) so I need to remove it. I can see 2 screws above the steering wheel, but I dunno where any others are. If someone can help me I'd appreciate it

Also I think I got it removed allright with just 2 screws taken out, but I dont know what to do about the shifter on the steering column, it's in the way (that's the biggest problem)

there are some pics attached that might give any ideas

Default RE: Dash removal question

thats the same dash i have on my 97 S-10

to take mine off all i had to do was remove the 2 screws above the guage cluster, the rest just "pops" off. its a pain to get it past the hazard switch(mine didnt have a tilt wheel, dont know if its easier with one)

someone else on here mentioned to me you can put the car in drive to get the dash past the shifter.

put the steering column in the lowest position if you have a tilt column, then put the trans shifter down into 1, this should give you enough clearance to squeeze it by. Don't forget to disconnect all the wiring clips on the left side before you start pulling it all the way out...you wont have enough slack in the wires. Also if you have 4wd, you will have to disconnect that too. Once you get the bezel off, you will have to take the 4 screws out holding the climate control, then you can remove the 4 screws holding the radio. Be sure you get one of the cheap plug-and-play wiring adapters, it will make the job much easier.
