hi everyone im new to the forums and i need a lil help. we just bought a 97 4 door blazer LS 4x4. the jerkwad that had the blazer before us decided it was the best idea to rip out everything in the stereo cubby. and cut the factory harness. yay for me right.

so i dug out my old jensen cd player and using this site wired it up. it works great as long as i dont turn the volume up.... acts like the speakers are pulling WAY too much power out of the unit.

so here are my questions if anyone can help...

1 why would the speakers drain so much power from the unit. i know there are 6 speakers in the blazer. 2 on the dash and one in each door. but there are only 4 sets of wires in the dash. any idea how or why that works?

2 after purchasing a schorche install kit from walmart i realized there is no where to attach the dang kit to. no brackets or nuffin. any idea of a way to mount the cd unit without the factor brackets... cause its a HUGE OL HOLE and even with the install kit there is alot of left over room.

anyways thanks in advance.. ill try to get pictures of this mess lol...

ok after the post i measured the opening on the dash... i am getting roughly about 6in tall by 9in wide. didnt get a chance to measure the depth of it... but the schoche kit DOES NOT FIT leaves roughly 2-3 inches all the way around it. wife has the truck at work so ill get pictures later today when she is home.

Im a bit confused about the antenna adapters, I want to install a metra wired fm modulator in a 92 blazer so I need an antenna adapter to go from the antenna to the modulator and one to go from the modulator to the antenna. Do I need a 40GM-10 adapter and a different one? Also where can you find a 40GM-10 adapter, I couldnt find any on the internet.

Default wally world

[quote-There may be a way to transmit the signal via FM to your radio though. Not 100% sure, someone else may know better) there is. wally world sells transmitters for $10- 20 .

Man, I am CONFUSED!!

I took out my blown factory door speakers in my 1995 2 door blazer.

Driver side door had Brown & Yellow wires

Passenger side door had Green & Dark Green wires.

Any idea why my wires are not where they are supposed to be? I'm going to need to switch out the rear with 6x9s and I'd like to make sure I'm putting the right wires on the right terminals before things go POW and burn!!

Thanks for any and all help!

If you have a 1st Generation S-10 (1982-1993)* you have 4x6 plates in the dash, and 4X10's in the side panels, or in the rear pillar. The wiring harness to add an aftermarket radio is 70-1677-1 (Metra) and GM01B (Scosche). Some models will not have an actual 4x6 in the dash, rather either a blank plate or a 1” tweeter in a 4x6 plate. On 4-Door models, you have 6 ½’s in all 4 doors. The wiring harness for 1995-2001 is 70-1858 (M) and GMO2B (S) The dash kit for 1995-1997 is 99-3043 / 99-3044 (M) and GM1515 (S) The dash kit for 1998-2001 is 99-3300 (M) and GM1588B (S) The wiring harness for 2002-2005 is 70-2003 (M) and GM05B (S) The dash kit for 2002-2005 is 99-2003 / 99-2001 / 99-3301 (M) and GM1583B * Antenna adaptor is 40GM-10 (needed on all S-Series Trucks from 1994-up)

For Blazers and S-10s (including Bravada, Sonoma, Jimmy, Full-Size) the actual stereo wiring is as follows Constant 12V+ Orange
Switched 12V+ Yellow
Ground Black
Illumination Gray
Dimmer Brown
Antenna Trigger Pink
Antenna Right Front
Front Speakers 4" x 6" Dash
Left Front (+) Tan
Left Front (-) Gray
Right Front (+) Light Green
Right Front (-) Dark Green
Rear Speakers 6" x 9" Side Panels
Left Rear (+) Brown
Left Rear (-) Yellow
Right Rear (+) Dark Blue
Right Rear (-) Light Blue

For 2002 up blazers the wiring is as follows:
Radio 12v orange+radio harness
Radio Ground black-radio harness
Radio Ignition dk. green+radio harness
Radio Illumination gray (dimmer)+radio harness
Factory Amp Turn-on N/A
Power Antenna N/A
LF Speaker +/- tan - gray+,- radio harness
RF Speaker +/- lt. green - dk. green+,- radio harness
LR Speaker +/- brown - yellow+,- radio harness
RR Speaker +/- dk. blue - lt. blue+,- radio harness
so if I am adding a powered sub...and I need a "remote turn on" from the factory head unit. Wouldn't I use the pink wire that turns on the power antenna if equiped ? If I use the switched 12v (big yellow) that would feed constant 12v to the amp with the key on...right ? Don't want that. Just the "zip" of power the remote turn on is needing. Comments or help please --

your are completely right spiderfreak. However, most blazers do not have a pink wire, i was wiring up a LOC converter so that i could hook up two amps and ran into the same problem. Well lucky for me i had a random switch right below my parking brake release. I wired the ignition switch wire to this and the remote wire. So now i can turn the amp on and off at my own will. If you want some more details as to how i did this just ask =) this might be a bit confusing lol

1. Go to www.scosche.com.
2. On the "Vehicle Search" option, select your blazer.
3. Select the first option. "GM1515B"
4. Read the given information.
5. Order away!
