2002 Blazer V8 Swap Questions
I am wanting to do a V8 swap on my 2002 S-10 Blazer. I would like to do a engine out of another chevy truck. If I would use an engine out of another chevy around the same year and used the engine and tranny, would the computer hook up to the existing computer I have in my blazer? I am in need of lots of help and all opinions. Also need to know what engines fit and what would need to be modified. Thanks

The new motor needs to be out a vehicle the same year or newer. The ecu will work but not without extensive reprogramming thus it is easier to use the donor ecu. Use the fuel pump also. Lots of work to do. One guy around here said he had superior fabrication skills and could do the swap in a week. Havent heard back. The only way you can have more fun will require you remove all your clothes.

I was wondering this also. It would be easier to take the PCM out of the doner truck. It would be best to have the whole doner truck right beside the build truck. Remember the PCM still thinks it's in the the doner truck and will be looking for all the sensor values from that truck, as well as the info from the other modules like the TCM. You would need to know all the info the PCM is looking for and find a way to provide it to the PCM. It may be best to just swap the wire harness from the doner and try and make it work that way.
It can be done but would take some time.
Then after all that, don't even think about getting it emissions tested, it will show up as the doner vehicle
