Gonna tackle big paint job

Gonna tackle big paint job
Well, I've been wanting to get it done, and tomorrow, I have a day off and it's going to be nice out, I'm going to tackle some painting on the truck. It'll be a big job, mainly because of the magnitude of the job at hand.
Two of the pictures show the window trim around the rear window. There is some major pitting in the top edge of the trim. I'll be sanding that smooth and then repainting. Another picture shows the grill area where I have circled the problem areas. The last picture shows the roof rack and I have circled the paint that is starting to chip away.
I plan on painting the window trim and the grill with Rustoleum's Trim paint, and then hitting the roof rack with the truck bed lining that I used on my tow hooks. https://blazerforum.com/forum/builds-48/first-many-43827/
Any suggestions on how to tackle this?

Just finished after painting all day. Most of the time was spent prepping the windows to make sure I didn't get paint on them. All in all, it looks pretty good. The rough spots on the window trim isn't so rough any more, but the pictures show that they could still use some work. I need to go over them with a filler and fill in the small pits. Also, the grill, well, I'll let the picture speak for itself.

NIce job.... I wonder why you didnt paint your bowtie... lol, but looks good, I like the combined before and afters

I didn't paint the bowtie cuz I like the way it looks stock. I don't want to black that out, or paint it any other color. I don't see a reason to do that.
I don't like the way the window trim still looks. It's an eyesore. Is it possible to replace that trim?

An idea off the top of my head- vinyl overlay. Just buy some vinyl and make precise measurements/tracings, and viola!

I was thinking about doing a putty filler. Fill in the pits, sand it, prime it, paint it. That'll be for another day though.
Thanks for the idea Phil.

The grill looks great!
As for the window trim I believe there is a "how to" that calls for body filler to do the job right. I may tackle that one day if/when I care about how my blazer looks more than how it runs.
That day may be coming sooner rather than later. Things are starting to get a bit rough around the edges.
