so, im going to get a 12 inch lift and 4x 40inch si tires with 20 inch rims to go with the package, my brother found someone and im going to get a sweet deal for only 600$. Is there anything else that I would need to upgrade for this to work ? i've been told i would have to upgrade the reer end and some other stuff. but how long would it last before it starts to wear and tear ? what else would i need to get. Thanks for everyones Opinion.

with tires like that with stock rear end gearing, it will not take long at all to blow your tranny

You may get away with the stock 1/2 ton axles if this truck is purely street driven and for looks. However... You really need to go to 3/4 or 1 ton axles with at least a 4:56 or 4:88 or 5:13 gear ratio.
Are you getting a complete 12" kit or piecing one together? Don't forget things like longer front brake lines, a steering arm and draglink, swaybar lowering kit, legal headlight height, etc...

I would definitely want some stronger axles.

I would want to upgrade the brake system too. and yes, what all is included in this 12" lift?

I never saw this build before. Any updates on progress?

i had fullsizes for years with 1/2 ton axles and 38 inch tires. steering is gonna suck. you might have to look into getting hydro assist. yeah 1/2 tons will last if you take it easy. just expect to replace ball joints and bearings about once a year. brakes are decent. i had all new stuff and really had no problem stopping
