Default timing issues?

I have a 2000 Chevy blazer and drove it to a buddy house to change the intake manifold gasket and put everything back together now it won't start? I checked the timing and the distributor can only go into 2 different spots both of which I tried and still won't start! It sounds like there is a back fire which makes me think it is the timing but how could it? I put it back in the same way it got taken out. Could it be somthing wrong with the way the gasket was put in? Maybe somthing else? I'm very frustrated and sick of messing with it after 6 hours of scratching my head I need help. Thanks!

i did intake not too long ago. when the dizzy came out, somebody rotated it a little so we had to get tdc. there's a right up on this forum. 2 marks on crank line up with notch on block, . check little arrow on base on dizzy with cap removed (points toward front right tire). that's where rotor should point at tdc. i'm no mechanic , but we had similar problem.
