Default 1986 Blazer S10

How much money would it be to put in a new transmission, and engine in my 1986 S10 Blazer. It currently has a 4cylinder engine with little to no power, and the 4 speed automatic transmission is about to go out. I was looking in the V8 Swap, but the only problem is I only have $3500-4000 to spend. Please help me, I'm going insane. Haha. I want to be able to go off-roading.

If you are going insane thinking about it, you will be insane doing it. Take my advise and put the same motor and trans back in and put the change in your pocket. I have done it, and did it like general motors would have. Belive me it's a lot more than just money.

I agree, stay stock! Put $3000 in a 6 month CD or something to make money! An automobile is a lliability... Make your money work for you.

My grandpa (the old/only owner) told me it sucks at offroading with the 4 cyl though. Is he true?

But I want to be able to go off-roading. The current trans has a bad leak, and the engine has over 2k miles. Do you know anything about the 4.3l v6 swap? I was thinking of doing that.
