1998 4.3l 4x4 Rough idle, Backfire,
Okay, So after getting stuck hardcore in this mud hole yesterday I couldn't get my truck to start. I tried driving through it, and as I was about 10 feet from the end the pipes were submerged and the motor quit. I tried cranking it over really quick and soon realized I was toast. I got a pull after water entered the cab of course.
I got her running, But now she runs a bit rough and isn't hitting on all cylinders. Flashing SES and unplugging of one spark plug wire clears up the back fire and miss. I late found out it was a loose spark plug. Tightened her up and left the shop. On the way home she wouldn't want to stay idling. Oil Pres. was good and so was temp.
Well, pulled the cap. No moisture. I checked all of the plugs, and wires. Everything is hooked up correctly except for one plug being loose so that cleared up the mis-fire. I drove it home fine last night, but this morning it started acting up again, My next guess is intake gaskets, or head gaskets. I'm hoping its just a cracked distributor, or the timing is off severely.
