HELLO AGAIN EVERYONE

i have a 2000 Blazer ZR2 4.3 4x4 3 button, I first noticed a 3rd & 4th gear problem on the highway. Going up steep hills or under torque stress on the on ramp. RPM'S would go way up but not MPH, 1 & 2 shift fine as do 3 & 4. Now in 3 & D, RPM's go up approaching 30 but speedo goes same speed until I let off the gas and try try again. I figure 3rd & 4th clutch pack are about fried.

A little history, had rear transmission seal started leaking, dumped a quart or so of fluid into TC. Put in a bottle of AT 205 Re-Seal as a Quick Fix hoping to get through winter, helped alot but still leaks some. Friends & Family say to get rid of it and get another, after Cat going and Heater Core everybody's favorite. It's a 2 door with Moon Roof I reply, there is not that many out there Catting Around.

Anyhow my question, I found several transmissions at Junk Yards with under 100k they clam for $350. I found a transmission guy that does work for a small garage in area that would rebuild for $700, a very good price.
I being a fare hand with a wrench could probably pull it in 3 to 4 hrs as opposed to this small garage wanting 400 to 500 to replace it.In today's market a good price, or I seen a video on youtube rebuilding this very same transmission. Has anyone tried this, or is this Fairy Tale where AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION are very sophisticated devices that transmission guys can screw up.

I've been around the block a few times, from rebuilding my first Turbo Charger or Motorcycle transmission or HEATER CORE seemed like a daunting task. Or is this something out of my League and better left to professions. WHAT WOULD YOU DO.

I've rebuilt a couple Mitsubishi fwd and awd's it's very simple except the valve body. My suggestion go to a pick and pull and see if you can do a practice valve body removal and even buy it. Many little .25 ball bearings floating around. If you dont have it flipped upside right for them not to fall out you'll be lost.
Don't worry mine has same symptoms you do so I'll be joining you in the rebuild. lol
