72 Blazer tranny swap- stick to auto
I am picking up my first K5 this weekend. I have wanted a first gen K5 for many, many years. (since high school... 20 years ago)
The blazer has a 350 (good!) but has a 4 spd trans. I won't be the only one driving it and would prefer an auto trans.
How hard is it to switch out the transmission?
I was thinking it shouldn't be a big deal as they came with turbo 350's from the factory.
What is the best way to go? t350, t400, or?
What kind of stuff should I look for when buying a trans? (I found a couple used for under $200 and a rblt one for $400)
Will all t350's fit? What other stuff will I need? (pedal assy, shifter, driveline, etc)
I haven't done much with chevy running gear, I have built a few VW's over the years. I have some friends who know they way around V8 stuff so they can help but they won't know the blazer specific stuff.
Any help?
