Angry adjusting shift linkage

I have a 1996 Chevy Blazer with over 196,000 miles. I have 2 problems first is the shift is up in park but the instrument panel says it's in reverse. I have to crawl under it to push it in park. Someone said the shift linkage may need to be adjusted how do I do that. Now the second problem is when I turn the vehical off the ignition won't go to the off position until I pull back on something on the bottom of the steering column. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it I'm going out of my mind with this for about 2 mounths now. Thanks

"shift+linkage+adjustment" or "shift+cable+adjustment" placed into the search feature without the quotes should get you the answer.

What is that "something" that you are pulling back on? See if this problem persists after you adjust the linkage/cable properly.
