anyone rebuild their own transmisison
#2
I have done a couple Chrysler transmissions long time ago. I needed a puller to get the pump out of the housings. Most transkits have seals, gaskets and plates. If something is broken you will have to get that individually. You might also need snap ring pliers (Internal/External) A clean place to work. Shop air would be very handy. When my blazer transmission went out the first time I had a local trans shop rebuild than the 2nd time I purchased a GM Goodwrench Remanufactored transmission.

The special snap ring pliars are the only thing that is a "specialized" tool that is absolutely required. Everything else can be done with wrenches, sockets and screwdrivers. You will need to get creative as far as installing seals and compressing some of the springs for clutch packs. Overall it's not very hard, but everything being clean is a must. There is a Chiltons for GM transmissions that I use. It's a step by step with pictures. Not the best but it gets the job done for much cheaper than a shop.

Sounds like your sunshell broke, I used this and other videos to do mine
I also took pictures while taking it apart. If you`ve never done this watch the videos several times and research a lot before you start. I had never ever even thought about doing this myself and it wasnt all that bad. Take your time ,it`ll be fine. I have 6000 miles on mine since the rebuild
