I can't rememer if this was the code I was getting or not, but mine ended up being a wiring loom hitting the front drive shaft and cut 2 wires. Look around your front driveshaft for anything that could interfear with it.
my transmission was replace by the GM dealer and they didn't secure the loom...
I think mine was purge valve circuit malfuntion or something....
edit: the vent valve is mounted above your rear axle.... make sure the filter and hose(connects the vent valve to the evap canister behind drivers rear tire) aren't full of mud/dirt/etc.

I joined this forum 10/10 because of this same problem, so it's my duty to try to help out. I have a 97 Blazer 4x4 with the PO446 codes coming back. I 1st tried to replace the EVAP vent filter above the spare tire, which I could only find the the Chevy dealer ($25). SES came on again, (my neighbor has a scanner and can clear my codes, thanks Saul). I pulled out the charcoal canister suspecting that, and removed the 5/8 hose running from the canister to the vent valve while I was there. It had a suspect kink or at least a soft spot in it, so I got 42" of new 5/8 hose ($5) and re-routed it over the gas filler line instead of the short path. I have driven 3 of 4 days now with no new events. I hope will help somebody else.

i get this code about every 3 weeks or so. havent looked at the canistor yet, i thought it was a gas cap issue, but the gas cap seems tight and the seal looks good. has no running or drivability problems.
