Frozen Transmission?

Frozen Transmission?
I have a 98 with about 82k miles on it and after sitting out in the cold for some time, the transmission will not shift into reverse, neutral, drive, or 3 2 1. I have to let the engine warm up to nearly 200degrees before it will let me shift into gear. my guess is that there is some kind of water in the transmission that needs to melt before i can put it into gear. any suggestions or diagnostics would be great. thanks guys.

RE: Frozen Transmission?
Berify your tranny fluid is up to proper level.
Drive the truck for 20 minutes, park on flat level surface and leave the engine running, check fluid level on both sides of dipstick, twice. It only takes a pint to go from teh bottom of the cross hatch to the top on the dipstick tube. Top off as needed.
While your checking hte fluid level, what color is it, and what does it smell like?
If you have any foam or white stuff on the dip stick, time to get the fluid replaced.
