will a 700r4 interchange with a 4l60e

Default will a 700r4 interchange with a 4l60e

i have a 92 k5 4x4 and the tranny finally gave out on me the other night. and im really not to good when it comes to 4x4's went from a 96 camaro to the blazer. but will a 4l60e out of a 94 jimmy 2wd work on my k5? and if so what changes will need to be made?

Short answer is no.

This is due to the inherent differences between the two transmissions. One is mechanically controlled while the other is electronically controlled. Without the electronic controller for the 4L60E (~$300 last time I looked), the transmission wouldn't know what to do and when to do it.

Your best bet would be to find a 89 or newer 700R4 from another 4wd GM vehicle and swap it in. I say 89 or newer due to the design improvements done to the 700R4 over its life span. The 89-92 700R4's are more reliable than the older ones.
