how do you use the 4 wheel drive on a 1995 chevy blazer
I have a question on the proper way to use the 4 wheel drive on a 1995 blazer. here is where my problems are when I put the car in neutral and when I push on the 4 hi button the 4 hi and 4 lo buttons will flash a couple of times and turn off but when I push on the 4 lo button they will both stay lit. now what is very confusing to me is my idol was around 3000 rpm and I put the car in neutral and push either 1 of the buttons it would engage and act normal but after I got the idle back down to around 1000 rpm that's when these problems occur. so I tried pushing on the gas pedal to get it around 2500 rpm and had the car in neutral and everytime I did this this car would shift into 4 wheel drive just fine without blinking buttons. another question that I do have is the 3/8" hose that is coming off of the electric brake control front drive axle vacuum switch isn't connected to anything it's just hanging below the battery but seems to have plenty of room to reach somewhere. please help I'm desperate

I have a 95 blazer ls 4WD and I have it in park when I am switching to 4Hi, 4Lo or even bak to 2Hi. Then after I push the button I always put it in reverse b4 ne thing to make sure its totally locked it or else is completely disengaged before I put it in drive. My buttons will flash when I am goin from 2wd into 4wd but only until its locked in yet when i am returning to 2wd they dont blink at all. And I dont see that driving it in 4hi or 4lo has much of an impact on my rpms unless im pulln myself up an incline out of the mud or something, so as for the idle rpm and normal operating rpm there is really no difference between 2wd and 4wd. So u may have a lil prob goin on somewhere and I would for sure figure out where that hose is supposed to be hooked up at since it could be affecting the vacuum that helps operate the 4wd.

And also, when I am in 4wd only the light for which ever I am using remains lit, so its either 4hi is lit, or 4lo is lit but not both at the same time.

2HI -> 4HI-any speed up to 35 pretty much
2HI -> 4LO-Stopped or under 2-3 mph

I think my blazer has It's own mind, I tried to put it into 4 wheel in park and the lights don't do anything but when I put it in neutral the lights will blink (4hi and 4lo) and sometimes they blink and the lights go away and sometimes the 4 hi and 4 Lo both will stay lite. And sometimes both lights stay on but you can feel it in 4 lo. But I just tried your suggestions and now the lights both stay lite and freeze there and it takes an act of god for the buttons to work (lights to blink or turn off). Does this sound familiar to anyone. Oh yeah the transfer case has a very little amount of fluid that seems to be leaking I think around that seal or gasket near what I think is the motor of some degree(It's looks like a black tube). Your guys help and knowledge is priceless to me and I really appreciate your input.

Sounds like something is wrong with your TCCM (transfer case control module) Same thing was happening to my friends 95 and at first unplugging it for a few minutes so it could reset worked then it just completely went.
So if i were you i would unplug it for a few minutes then plug it back in and see if that helps, if not then its time for a new one. you should be able to push the 4HI button no matter what gear you are in.
When the buttons blink that tells us that there is a ram fault in the TCCM.

Agreed...it's not just the buttons blinking, but the manner in which they're blinking. The other common electrical-type issue with 4WD is the t-case shift motor going out. A bad t-case shift motor will usually just make the buttons blink a few times while it's trying to make the motor shift the t-case, then it gives up and goes back to indicating 2WD on the buttons. Doesn't sound like this is the case, so I would lean towards a bad TCCM. Very common for these to fail eventually.
As for that hose, there is one of about that size which connects to the actuator under the battery tray. This pulls on a cable that locks the front drive axles together. There are some pictures and descriptions here:

Desperate, you need to take the battery and tray out and connect that line to the actuator it has come off.

Thanks so much and thanks to you all I know where that mysterious hose went. Unfortunately my 4 wheel has the same issue. But I'm gonna try the tccm in fact I found an extra one in the vehicle when I bought this car but it still does the same issues but I'll try another one. I'll keep my results posted
