how to remove inspection cover off of transmission bell housing
I have a 2003 Chevy Blazer. This might be a stupid question and addressed already. How do you properly remove and put back on the inspection cover on the transmission bell housing?

i think you have to drop the exhaust. i know on most fullsize trucks they run the exhaust right under it. if its a metal one you can kinda mangle it and pull it through you just have to bend it back once you put it up so it doesnt rub

On the 98+ trucks (and some 97's), the bell housing is separate from the transmission and is a full circle housing.
There is a stamped steel inspection hole cover that can just be pried out with a screwdriver and then put back into place, again using the screwdriver to compress the clips enough to get them back through the hole.
There are also two rubber plugs that can be pulled out using a pair of pliers. Lubricating them with motor oil helps them go back in.
