ok. so i recently started driving my blazer again (97 4x4 auto) and noticed on my way to work that it was leaking fluid (smoke burning off of the exhaust) finally found the leak. transmission fluid is leaking out of the vent tube up by the dipstick and is dripping down and burning on the exhaust. checked fluid level (running, in neutral) and it was not low or over full. any ideas what could cause this? It did start shifting funny after the leak occured, but only leaked for 2 days and has since stopped. shifting has not improved (feels almost like a CVT transmission, doesnt slip but slowly drops revs to the next gear) im assuming it is time for a rebuild, but was curious what might cause this.
