Default P0171 and P0174 but NO symptoms (like less performance or gas mileage)

Hi all,
I know the P0171 and P0174 codes have been discussed elsewhere before, I just feel my "problem" is a little different. My service engine light goes on and off seemingly at random and those are the only codes I get. I get good gas mileage and don't feel a problem with performance exists. I cleaned the MAF thoroughly as well.

Is it possible that the error message comes on only due to bad connection of the sensors or something the like? How big of a deal is it to drive around with those error codes untreated?

Thanks.

Unfortunately that link does not seem to work. But as I mentioned, the other threads on this forum seem to be mainly focusing on the situation where you have error codes and symptoms in performance and/or gas mileage, which I don't seem to be having. That's why I started a new thread.

My bad, try the link again, now.
If you have an error code, why not try to use the procedures that will correct that situation, whether you feel you have the symptoms or not?

This is EXACTLY the problem I was having. P0171 and P0174 codes and service engine light, but no symptoms. My engine light was just staying on constantly tho.

I filled it up with 89 octane today (had been running 87, my son is cheap...lol) and the light has gone off and stayed off so far. Drove about 120 miles today, mixed highway and city traffic. So far, so good.

OK, my original link is just not working. Run a 'search' for P0171and read through the threads that come up. There will be some deaing with both P0171 an P0174 codes.

UPDATE: The Engine light came back on today while my son was driving it. Sorry for the red herring!

Now I must also go search for those topics on those codes!
