Stuck in 4WD HI
Saturday I noticed that my service 4wd lighy came on, but then a while later it went off. Today the light came on again. I have a 2000 blazer 4dr 4wd 4.3l. I have the push button 2hi 4hi 4lo and 4auto. I was switching them to see what would happen and now its stuck in 4wd hi. we had some snow here and when i pulled into my driveway I tested to see if the 4wd was working and it was. What is the problem, why wont it go back to 2hi??? or any other?? Please help.....

Hey, mine's doing the same thing, but remained in 2wd. After awhile the light went out so I tried to **** it into 4wd Hi and it got stuck their like yours did. I was able to get it back into 2wd by removing and replacing the transfer case fuse, located in the box under the hood. This won't solve your problem but might get you back into 2wd.

To the OP, due to the fact that you have the NV236 (4-button switch with auto4wd), you need a Tech2 or equivalent full feature scan tool which can access the TCCM to retrieve the stored codes. You are likely suffering from an encoder fault, but without the stored codes, that is just a guess.

I took mine in today but they can't get to it til monday. Mine's stuck in Auto4x4. Everytime I hit 2hi or 4hi it tries to go into 4lo, it won't unless I stop and put it in N then it goes into 4lo fine but it still won't engage into 4hi or 2hi but will go back into auto. Not a damn clue lol. I can live with it though, it's not like it's stuck in 4x4 like yours...
