Transmission Pan Removal

Transmission Pan Removal
I've dropped the pan on my 1995 Chevy Blazer 4.3L 4WD, but there doesn't seem to be enough clearance to the front to get it down past the exhaust pipe and to the back is blocked by the chassis.
Does anyone know what the 'trick' involved is to remove the pan completely?
Any anwers would be greatly appreciated!

It has been discussed before. You likely will have to jack the rear of the transmission up and remove the rear cross member inorder to drop the pan. You may be able to get away with removing the rear transmission mount bolts and jacking up the transmission as far as you can so try that first. If that does not give you enough room, remove the rest of the bolts holding the rear crossmember in place and remove it. Just remember to place your jack so that you can get at everything.

Well, I eventually managed to remove the trans pan after jacking up the transmission and dropping the crossmember on the passenger side.
I have since replaced the trans filter and 'stuck' it all back together again with no spare parts (which is always a bonus I find) LOL!
Anyway, the car drives fine in 2nd, but won't upshift into 3rd for some reason.
I am attemting to fix this problem as cheaply as possible and buying a rebuilt trans @ $1400+ is out of the question for a 14 year old car IMO.
So, with that in mind is there anyone out there who can give me tips or advice as to what the probable cause is?
Thanks in anticipation of your replies!

It is very easy when replacing the pan to pinch wires or break solenoids.
I'm afraid another pan drop is in your near future to find out what's happened.

Screw that, I'd rather scrap the car than drop the pan again, it was such a pain in the ***!

I have the same issue right now after doing the same thing. Did you ever figure out what it was? I really dont want to drop the pan again.

Did the Transmission have the shift problems before you did the filter and fluid change ? Is that why you did the service ?
#8
no I did it for general maintenance. I dropped the pan yesterday and after I cleaned the fluid off the valve body I found a broken 2-3 shift soleniod. must have tapped it just right to crack the cover. Replace with new and drives perfectly once again.

I will be dropping my pan in the next few weeks to change the fluid and add a temp sensor to the trans. Your point is well received!!! I have been keeping a CLOSE eye on these threads
