Smile Will a transmission np236(4 button) transfer case fit np233 (3 button) transfer case

Will a (2000 Jimmy) transmission with an np236 (4 button) transfer case fit in a (1999 Jimmy) with an np233 (3 button) transfer case?
The wifes' tranny is going and I have a spare tranny from a 236 (4 button) transfer case.

thanks for the help.

That's what I was thinking too Diaita. The numbers on both tranny's are the same but I guess I won't know for sure until I actually start working on it. Unless anyone else knows for sure?

Hopefully it doesn't die until at least spring. It's cold up here in the winter.

98 to 02 trans are the same. Your 2000 should be broadcast code 0TAD and your 99 should be 9TAD if the tags on the top are still there. The first digit is the year. The 2nd is the vehicle model. (T is 4wd S-series) The last 2 are the actual model of the trans.
Both transfer case adapters should be the generic 5 bolt, so just leave it attached to the trans. You'll need a new adapter to TC gasket. Fel_pro 72769 $5-10 depending on where you get it.

I'd replace the TC input seal on the 233 while you have it out. They are known to go bad and will cause ATF migration from the Trans to TC causing the trans to use fluid and the TC to be over full. Don't want to have to go back in later for that. They're also $5-10.

Just find another 236. The wiring would be difficult at best. Probably would require re-programming or replacing the TCCM among other things. With the 233 you would also loose the ability to put it into neutral if necessary. But remember the 236 shouldn't be towed any distance in neutral.

Will it fit , yes it will fit . But you will have issues with control of the case and front axles. The np 233 case does not have automatic ooeration like the np236 . Also the front axle lock vacuum switch is on the np233 TC and the np236 TC uses a firewall mounted electric actuator for the front axle vacuum locker.
