If the Blazer steering column is put together like an 86 IROC steering wheel there are 4 bolts right below that "joint" that work loose. The take a special socket to tighten up and that's after you remove the steering wheel, air bag (if your blazer has one), turn signal switch, etc. There's a bunch of stuff in there to remove before you can get access to those 4 bolts with an extension and socket. The bolt heads look like the tip of a torx head screw driver. I don't remember where I bought my socket set from but you can buy the sockets.

I made up my mind after I got mine back together that the next time that happened (if there is a next time) I'll just go to a junkyard and get a whole other steering column, it was that big of a PITA.

Good luck with yours, whichever way you go.

Do a google search on GM tilt column and you will find a few good write ups. I had the same issue and thought about tackling this job myself but I stopped by my idependent shop and they were really familiar with the symptom and repair. Basicly, they take the column apart to get at the mounting bolts remove them add locktight and reassemble. They charged me an hours worth of labor. My column is nice and tight now.

Below is one of the links that gives the repair procedure.

did a few on my trucks. alot of write ups i see only talk about getting at the first two bolts which is easier cause you dont have to take apart alot of stuff. i just pulled the two out, lock tighted them and put them back in... years later they all still work fine

I have done it a couple times and it isnt too bad, just tedious. First time just did the 2 that were easily reached, then it happened again and i took it all the way down and loctited the **** out of them.
