My 89 Jimmy 4x4 supposidly had a newer 350 engine installed. That was all the info I was given. I cannot locate the casting code anywhere on the block. On the driver side rear, I did find "HECHO EN MEXICO" "GM 5.7", but no casting code.

On the bell housing there was a stamp which looked a little worn, but i deciphered it to: 191011406 -maybe?

Im looking to buy some headers, but all I know is that its a sbc 350.

Any help would be great.

 

i usually go off the suffix code. basically its going to be right in front of the passenger side head behind the alternator. so look straight down behind the alternator, usually on older engines they are hard to read due to being covered in grease.

there should letters and numbers. the 3 letters are what you want. nastyz28.com has a suffix decoder somewhere on that site
