Default brake light switch

Hi guys hope you can help me.
I have a 1994 full size blazer 4X4. I noticed my brake lights dont work. I replaced the switch with a new one and they still dont work. If i remove the switch and press the tang inside the switch they work. there has got to be some plastic bushing thats connected to the switch or the brake booster rod that is missing. also if i reach down and pull up on the switch it engages and the brake lights work. What is missing that makes the switch work when the pedal is pressed. Thanks

The switch has to be adjusted to work. It doesn't just go all the way in the bracket.

Question

I dont think is adjustable. I dont think my full size blazer 4x4 has that type. mine looks like a white square box that slides on to the brake pedal shaft the rotates downward and snaps onto the shaft going to the booster rod. it feels really loose moved with your hand when moved side to side. There has got be be a missing bushing or plastis part that mounts somewhere in order get the switch to actvate. I was at the wrecking yard and found one it felt very tight (no side to side motion, but i coulnt get the clip off to find out how what was missing).Im headed back out there monday to check it out again.
Thanks for your reply

I figured it out. Someone had put the wrong brake booster on it.
Thanks for the help.
