Default diesel k5 real world reviews

Ive been a giant fan of k5 blazers since i was a kid, but due to my long commute everyday i cant afford the typical fuel economy.I just found a k5 that has a 6.2 diesel.I have heard they get outstanding fuel economy, but there are mixed reviews about the engines reliability. If any of you guys own one can you tell me what you get for city driving and is it realistic to think that I can make it a daily driver?the blazers odometer says 80xxx, but id assume that it is 180xxx. I really like my current vehicle(dodge 2500 w/ a cummins) but I really like k5's.let me know.thanks.

I got an 87 Blazer with a 6.2L Diesel. I would have to say fuel economy is great on the highway, can get around 1200km to a full tank. In the city its still alright but will definitely burn more fuel. As for the acceleration they are a bit sluggish without a turbo.

My truck is around the same mileage and haven't had any major engine problems. My truck starts better than gas car in -10C.

And on a side note you can also run vegetable oil in it to save some money, I run around 50/50 in the summer so that also brings the price down.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

My 6.2 is pretty good, 130k and still runs like a charm no matter how much mud i throw at it. It is god awfully slow, so i am planning on putting a turbo on her, but for this truck, i would never want to go Gas.

Default Had an 82

It was the worst vehicle I've ever owned. At glow plugs by the dozens, transfer case shaft stripped, axles were weak for the power it generated, and on and on.

But, I recall that it did get good MPG--like 22 mpg. Diesel was cheap back then, too.
