yeah, i kind of forgot to mention that junkie (happens when you're used to doing it yourself). make sure you use some pipe dope, or Teflon tape. the dope will never leak if you use it, but either one will do fine.

sadly time for a new intake. or you could try a helicoil. those are used more for spark plug threads on the block that get crossthreaded. but they may work.

actually, that's the beauty of a NPT thread, you can still run the tap in the hole, it'll just go deeper, creating a little larger hole.

but you have to be really careful, it's easy to go too deep & create too large of a hole for the new fitting.

Does anybody have a part number for the nipple that will work with the Vermont American 1/2-14Npt Tap Part Number: 20354?

I was able to unscrew mine without breaking anything (with the hose intact once I gave up on my quick connect tool) but im sure the quick connect will start leaking once I put it all back together.

edit

ok i think i found one from jegs is this the right one?

Chrome Heater Hose Fitting

That looks like it will do the job nicely.

It looks better than the $3.99 part I got at the local Advance Auto:

It's working great and no leaks, but I wanted chrome :-)

Dorman Heater Hose Connectors Nipple 3/4" Hose x 1/2" NPT x 2-3/4" Long Metal

If I only I could remember to paste in the details...

Yeah, either of those will work!

Those pictures jogged my memory! We had to mess with this very thing on my dad's old '94 K2500 probably 10 years ago. We just ended up using a drill & tap. Dad put back in the same damn thing though...
