nose bearing on 84/85 14 bolt obsolete!?
currently running Dana 60 and 14 bolt on 86 k5 . Axles are from military cucv, 4.56 gears detroit in rear 1985 model. In 84/85 GM used a TorringtonDC-57524 roller bearing for the nose or saddle bearing on the pinion. This bearing is discontinued and cant be found. no one else makes a replacement either . Would like very much to know if anyone else has encountered this problem and what was your solution . Local GM and Chevy dealers basicaly said its obsolete have a good day, se ya. Curious if bearing mount in housing could be machined to accept a differnt bearing?

Check with your local bearing shop
When I checked a SKF bearing cross reference chart they used the same number
I also found this , see the bottom line of the description
I would try giving the dealer that GM number
DRK325MK GM 10.5 14 Bolt Master Timken Differential Bearing Kit

Thanks for your reply. I've checked with the local bearing shop, nothing will cross thats available. Note at foot of master rebuild bearing kit states must use DC-57524 or GM# 15595830 for 84-85 14 bolt. GM used this bearing for two years only. Bearing for previous and later models does not fit. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Bearing shop still searching for bearings in warehouses across the country. I'm looking for another fix, possibly sleaving bearing housing in chunk or machine out, whichever works to fit new bearings.

Found this by cutting and pasting part # in google search box, first thing that popped up. In Brazil tho......Bearing dc-57524 torrington Didn't look any further but quite a few results came up.....or maybe gmpartsdirect.com
Looked at gmpartsdirect.com real quick after I posted the above and they have bearings for 8.50, 9.50 and 10.50 axles
