Towing a 75 K5?
Hello, I have a 75 k5 blazer and I plan on towing it behind a rv with a tow bar. My question is if I unlock the hubs put the transmission in nutral and the transfer case in neutral am I good to go or do I need to disconnect the rear drive shaft? I have asked a few mechanics and I get both answers?
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

Depends on what transfer case is in it and whether or not the internals are lubed by the output shaft turning. Being a popular 4X4 that is over 40 years old now it could have the original TFC in it or any number of upgraded (or any junkyard unit they could get to fit with a big hammer and a welder!) transfer cases installed.
If the model you have installed has good splash lube or a pump like the later models, towing is no issue. If it is not well lubed by the output shaft turning, it will burn up unless the driveshaft is disconnected.
IIRC, the usual unit found in these (OEM anyway) are the 203 and 205 cases. They must not turn when towed any distance or they burn up.
