Any help on this would be appreciated. I had a dead battery for a few days. Put 250 miles on the truck - took it for inspection and two codes state NOT READY. The Evaporative system and the secondary air system. Is this normal - I have heard so many things - from driving the truck 30-500 miles. A few days before they were fine!!! FAiled because of the E-brake but got that fixed.

You must go through every step in the drive cycle for the PCM to test each system. It can be done very quickly.

If that still does not allow for the systems to become ready, then there is a problem with the system(s) prohibiting the test and further testing is necessary.

One of the things that was sticking me on a couple Fords i was fixing for friends was the EVAP monitor not coming ready. I drove these things all day and they stayed not ready until I hopped online and found out that one of the criteria the EVAP system needs to complete its test is to have over 1/2 a tank of fuel, but less that 3/4 full. If its not in those parameters then the system will never come ready for you to test. Im not saying thats your fix, but it worked with the Fords, I went and put 50 bucks in them and collected it back later from the people who owned the cars, the cars completed their tests on the next 20 minute drive I did and passed the inspection.
