I have a 96 blazer and i think its leaking oil from the oil pan. ive looked there and found oil around the pan and leaking by the oil plug. do they common leak there and how much does it cost to replace the seal?

eh, pretty much common for every vehicle to leak from there when they get older its kinda a big job cause theres stuff in the way. on a 4x4 you have to remove the front differential. 2wd you have to pull the engine? i think you can just lift the engine up really high and change it though

Mines always wet around the pan to. And the rear main seal. Doesnt drip any on the ground and hardly uses any oil between oil changes so im not worried about it.

My truck has leaking oil pan seal never leaves any evidence, but if I am ever on an incline pointing downhill it leaves a little spot.

There is an old saying about Chevy small blocks (which the 4.3 is just missing two cylinders) "If they ain't leaking or burning a little oil there about to blow." My 97 Blazer 4x4 leaked & burned oil about a half a quart every 1000 miles. But oil was cheap & it ran & ran & ran. I beat that poor Blazer. I sold it & it is still running.
I have a very minor leak @ the CPS. I won't fix it because of what I stated above.
